KC Racing's 2019 Official Retirement StatementICARUS FLIGHT
by BHOF Forbidden to Fly out of Sizzling Dawn
Has only placed out of the money
six times during her 46 starts with
20 wins
God, I love this filly so so much. It was a blessing within itself that
S u N f r O s T ~ (SOPS) gave her to me nearly three years ago and I've been running with her ever since. I kept telling myself, this filly is going to do amazing things I just know it and lo and behold,
she did. She is from a stellar line and is known for running at the sprinter distances (5-7) but she has been known to dominate a mean 8.5 furlong field with room to spare.
She was
Y17's Best 2 Year Old Filly and that year's
Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner. She dominated the
Bison City Stakes** (Canadian Triple Tiara) and
Starshine Sprint** (Triple Sprinter Tiara) and to date, she has won
14 HOTY races. I can tell she's slowing down quite a bit this year even with a full bill of health but I'm still working her towards her final stand in the BC Sprint Fillies/Mares later this year. She deserves to be able to try again for that because she's definitely worth it.
A sprinter girl as powerful as her is going to need a stand-in because it'll be 2-3 years before we're ever graced with a racing foal from her. In her stead, she'll be followed up with SOPS-bred and distant relative through Forbidden Wings,
Lady Pegasus (Pegasus Wings x Alien Side Kick).
With $4 million in earnings and 20 wins (12 of them HOTY currently), she's left some huge hooves to fill. We considered running her for a fifth season, but really, she's more than proved herself time and time again.
RETIRING: December Wk 4, Y19
LAST STAND: Breeders' Cup Fillies/Mares Sprint
RISING WONDER
by The Rising out of No Wonder
Kentucky Open** winner,
Breeders' Cup Juvenile** winner, winner of the
California Derby (Distance Series)** and
Virginia Derby (Distance Series)**
Rival to SOPS'
HYPERION
The turf wonder boy, the turf-shaker, turf-eater..Rising Wonder is a force to behold. Another horse we contemplated running a fifth season but found him facing the same problem as Icarus Flight - he's done it all. However, we've decided to keep Rising Wonder running until the last part of January to allow him ample time to tackle the Breeders' Cup Turf and Dubai World Marathon one last time.
He's earned $8 million dollars during his career and 12 major HOTY race**. We're mentioning this wonder-stallion again because we want the world to love him as much as we do. As of today, he already has two mares for his first booking late spring next year after he retires.
He carries that Merry Bay King charm and looks as well as his speed and stamina. We can only hope that he achieves as much as a site-wide breeding imprint on his foals as much as his grandsire.
Rising Wonder has gone head to head with direct Merry Bay King son, Hyperion, time and time again and has bested him on occasion.
If you're looking for the next sire of your turf champions, you may have just found him.
RETIRING: February Week 1, Y20
LAST STAND: Breeders' Cup Turf and Dubai World Marathon
CURRENT BOOKING: 2 outside mares for Y20 (Firestone Stud and SOPS)
DEATHFLASH'S TRUTH
by Deathflash's Pride out of Loose Truth
This boy started off so slow I almost wanted to give up on him. It seemed like he wasn't going anywhere at times but his line is known to take a painfully amount of time to mature. It's a good thing he's been extremely consistent throughout his entire career with only 8 off the board finishes. He's running at 51 starts currently and I know there's going to come a time when he's been overworked which brought about the decision to finally retire him at the end of this year.
KC Racing is known to be a lover of the Loose Truth line along with all of her relatives (see Truth Teller and more recently, Usotsuki). Tru has been pushing hard to make a name for himself this year and has kept up with even the most reputable sprinters this year.
RETIRING: December Week 4, Y19
LAST STAND: Breeders' Cup Sprint
CURRENT BOOKING: Open for reserves for Y20 now! PM on Discord with links to your sprinter mares!
HELLAGOODKCRS Original
A boy with a nasty bite that would sooner tear someone apart then consider them as an ally. That being said, this is a beautiful, well put together horse and though his body may be scarred, his spirit has remained steadfast. He had a late start at three due to a bad history with his previous owners but he has done nothing but make us proud here.
He's not the type of horse to push when he doesn't want to do something which we've come to learn with his distaste for heavy HOTY races. We thought it was his chance to shine as a five year old and take up the challenge, but he's more than proved that he likes dominating 'weaker prey' so to speak in the undercards.
RETIRING: Once he reaches G1
CURRENT BOOKING: Open for
1 reserve for Y20, PM on Discord
PARTYATTHEDISCOKCRS Original
A mare that we managed to hunt down after falling in love with her full-sister, Mardi Gras. This mare managed to do what her sister could not do after suffering a career-ending injury a few years back. She's now capable of keeping up with not only the girls, but the boys as well. We've likened her to Sylvanite in her winning-ness and has even raced in Firestone colors and ran well for them as well.
She's one of our most versatile horses that succeeds no matter where you place her and we're happy to have her back home and doing what she loves best. She'll be participating in her biggest race yet at the end of the year at the Breeders Cup where she'll make her final stand.
Other notable upcoming retirements:
Louisiana Blues (end of Y19)
Turbocharged (once he reaches G1)
Whattatwist (once she reaches G1)
Oh The Irony (once she reaches G2 or G1)
Bizarre Redemption (once she reaches G1)
Jacques Cousteau (re-evaluate once G1)
Takeover Bid (late Y20)
