Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!

Great Navigator Derby - G5+G4 - 6f - T - 3yo Judge SunFrost win Spirit of the Angel place Pied Piper
The classy lady continued her winning streak into grade three today, beating down a very determined and very classy Pied Piper. It would be very much in her blood to try for the Triple Sprinter Crown if she continues doing this well. Pied Piper faced some classy competition and is rising to prominence himself. Solid duo.
Harlestine Derby - G4+ - 11f - D - 3yo Judge SunFrost win Proletariat place Luna De Soltera show Fabled Dreams
I had no idea Proletariat was a grade two. What a classy individual. I still cannot believe my Black Thriller beat him out for the win in the Juvenile. He and Luna had quite the fierce battle in the stretch. The two ran together at the front end, which created a lot of pace for Fabled Dreams to close into, but managed to edge her and each other out. Proletariat took this by a fierce nose.
I love Fabled Dreams. She's got so many classy starts under her and I think she's a perfect fit for the Triple Tiara, at the least. She faced two very very classy individuals today and fought gamely for her placing. I didn't think she was quite ready to take down the top two, but oh my gosh am I impressed with her.
Despicable Mary Stakes- G4+ - 11f - T - 3yo Judge Ripley Win. Catastrophic Place. Patriot Show. Incineration Fourth. Spirit of Liberty
Catastrophic: I always thought this filly would standout as she aged and as a three year old, she strikes me as being that much more mature. Her sire was the type to get better as he got older and she has shown flashes of fire before. I thought she would catch the other three off guard with her high cruising speed and easy going appearance. She took them from gate to wire, leaving Patriot and Incineration with a fresh horse to run down.
Patriot: This race was all about being forwardly placed. The colt broke well and settled at Catastrophic's hip for most of the race. However, when Catastrophic's jockey told her to pick up the pace mid-way up the backstretch, Patriot's jockey held still banking on the chestnut getting tired. It wasn't until the far turn when Patriot's jockey turned him loose that the jock realized he'd made a tactical error. Patriot held strong over Incineration through the stretch, displaying a vast amount of gameness. Although, he wasn't as precocious as other colts at age two, I believe Patriot will show himself better the older he gets.
Incineration: She ran strongly at three and just had a tough race in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. I thought perhaps she'd need a little longer to recover, especially stretching out to the eleven furlong distance this time around. She showed her honesty, but I thought this race a little too long and too soon for her return.
Spirit Of Liberty: I really do like her. She has a playful charm and a hard working attitude. She's been a consistent performer, but didn't get a good set up here today. I think she'll rebound well for you in her next start.
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO STAKES* - G2+ - 9f - T - 4yo+ F/M Judge Ripley Win. Spitterfly Place. Melusine Show. Scintilla Fourth. Silent Heart Fifth. Whispering Melody Silent Heart: I do think this mare belongs in turf races instead of dirt, but this was a solid jump and introduction. She got a little tired in her first start of the season, but I think if you bring her up to grade one in undercards, you'll have a potent threat for the 8-10F races.
Whispering Melody: Although she is a similar grade to these other fillies and mares, I do think she is a cut below them right now in terms of class. She may need a confidence booster since she is with a new barn and new training regimen. If you take a gentle approach and run her mostly on turf (where she and half-siblings has been most successful), I think she'll come back to her winning form.

Millicent Stakes - M - 10f - D - 2yo Judge SunFrost win Amnesty place Ouro Lume show Wise Guy
The pace set up nicely for Amnesty here. Ouro Lume also ran well off her first start to nip a very determined Wise Guy at the wire. Good field.
Gatsborough Stakes - M - 10f - T - 2yo Judge SunFrost win Tempest Rising place Tap Out
I thought Tempest Rising would come in strong off that twelve furlong test to just shut out Tap Out for the victory here. I really like Tap Out though - he strikes me like a straight Witch Creek type of colt XD
Halfbridled Stakes - G5+ - 9f - D - 3yo Judge Ender WIN Winning Fire PLACE Hurricane SHOW Shatter
At The Half Stakes - G5+ - 9f - T - 3yo Judge Ender WIN Final Judgement PLACE The Oddity SHOW Patriot
Royal Orbit Stakes - G5+G4 - 11f - D - 3yo Judge SunFrost win Roses Rampant place Momentarily Herself Momentarily Herself gave a fight, but Roses Rampant really matured well off of her Breeders Cup start and was a bit much for the other filly to handle this time around. Both fillies are bursting with potential, but Roses Rampant struck me as sharper this time around.

BATTLESTONE DOWNS DIRT CLASSIC* - G5/4 - 11F - DIRT - 3YO WIN Black Thriller PLACE Miss Magic SHOW Nutcracker Suite fourth Roussong
BATTLESTONE DOWNS TURF SPRINT* - G5/4 - 6F - TURF - 3YO FIRST Storm Warning SECOND Game Over
The top three really pushed each other from pretty early on in the race. Sillencio broke into the lead from the start but found himself fighting for the position with both Flashbang and Bold Trick quite early on, and didn’t quite have the experience at the distance as the other two did to be able to maintain it. Bold Trick had glued himself onto Flashbang, and Flashbang was easily influenced and became preoccupied with attempting to out-do him - pushing his pace faster, earlier than he usually would. Bold Trick has won at this distance already, and wasn’t much phased by the eagerness of Sillencio and Flashbang and found himself with the stamina to spare to take the win.
French Quarter and Sweet Talker simply didn’t recognise the huge battle between the top three colts early enough, allowing them to get several lengths ahead, and Sweet Talker having only raced at 8 furlongs thus far was perhaps a little overwhelmed by the distance and competitiveness of the colts and in the end didn’t have enough time to recover the big distance as a closer. French Quarter and Sweet Talker are both impressive horses in my eyes, but I really felt the top three pushed the pace much earlier than either of them were expecting.

Swing and Sway Stakes - G4+ - 7f - T - 3yo Gate One:
Watsonville Stakes - G3 - 8f - D Ripley Win. Noadiance Place. Escape Artist Show. Dark Maiden Fourth. Crooked Intentions
Crooked Intentions: She was cutting back from a marathon distance to the mile distance on a different surface and seemed a little out of her element amongst the speedier horses. She's a good quality mare, but it seemed strange to go back to dirt after rolling to victory in a turf race.
Spike Stakes - G3 - 8f - T Ripley Win. Sugar Rush Place. The Apathy
Sugar Rush: I'm fairly certain she won a race already in Year Seventeen. Not sure where, but I thought I'd seen her entered somewhere in Feb Wk 1 or Jan wk 4.
ROCKINGHAM SPECIAL* - G2+ - 12f - D - F/M Rendezvous WIN. Adrasteia PLACE. Awestruck SHOW. Everyday Smile The beautiful Radiance filly, Adrasteia took a well deserved win today. She came off a second place finish in the Belle Victoire Derby and two weeks off did this filly good. She was extremely focused and had her head completely in the game this morning. She managed to lead the field for a good majority of the race before being overtaken by Awestruck and Everyday Smile not far behind. Adrasteia wasn't having any of that drama, however, and still finished three lengths ahead of the other fillies.Awestruck seemed a bit nervous out of the gate today and was bent up on nervous energy as she tackled the field, giving her jockey a bit of a hard time. Everyday Smile is the older horse of the field, but the four year old horses got the upper hand today.
CARNIVAL STAKES* - G2+ - 9f - T Rendezvous WIN. Scintilla PLACE. Devil's Flair SHOW. Passionate God 4th Secret's Surprise
Talk about girl's night out! Last year's Virginia Derby winner was not playing around today and gave the boys a run for their money. It was a true battle of the sexes today with two fillies and two colts on the field. Only Scintilla managed to overtake the boys today with Secret's Surprise being overpowered by Passionate God for the duration of the race. The Foolish Lad filly practically ran her heart out trying to stay on Devil's Flair's heels. The Augusto colt was eager to push the pack to run faster, attempting to tire them out along the way. He was a big bully on the track and occasionally came a little too close to Passionate God during the first half of the race. Passionate God had his mind in the wrong place as he wasted a bit of energy in the gates, breaking last before scurrying to get a lead position. This was where Devil's Flair edged him on, encouraging him to run faster although he himself had no intention of surpassing him just yet. He tried to do the same to Scintilla, but this filly didn't care, she was happy to run her little heart out. Secret's Surprise stayed out of the drama and kept to the back of the pack not wanting to get between Devil's Flair. When Devil's Flair stopped playing devil's advocate, Scintilla had already crossed the wire, pulling up with her nose flaring. Although she won today, it was a hard race for the filly.

PIMLICO SPECIAL* - G1 - 10f - D RENDEZVOUS 1st Coincidence 2nd Incognito 3rd Baciami 4th Uno Momento 5th Barely Smokin
An extremely good looking field of maturing gentleman. All of these colts have probably seen each other field at least once in their racing career and they were familiar with each other on the track today. It was a hard race to judge as all of these horses possess the same quality as the next horse and there was no horse left behind in this track. Even with Barely Smokin in fifth place he wasn't far behind from Uno Momento and so on.
MARLBORO CUP INVITATIONAL* - G1 - 10f - T SAMMY WIN: Like a Lady PLACE: Scintilla SHOW: Devil's Flair
Gallahadion Stakes - G5+ - 8f - D - 2yo Judge: Rendezvous Win Sweet Dreams Place Foxy Passion [nose] Show Amnesty
Foxy Passion and Amnesty are two fairly similar fillies, at least in my eyes. It was a toss up between those with Foxy being merely a nose ahead of Amnesty. Sweet Dreams overpowered the girls today and looked damn proud about doing it. From his current race record and his win today, he seems to do well over the short distances.
Bimelech Derby - G5+ - 8f - T - 2yo Judge: Rendezvous Win Final Velocity Place Tap Out Show Twilight Reign
Many were probably expecting the colt, Tap Out to secure this race as a win. As luck would have it, the up and coming HOTY savvy filly, Final Velocity overtook the colt today.

Week 2
Johnstown Stakes - G5+ - 10f - D - 2yo Judge Cruisey WIN Kallisto PLACE Rogue Prince SHOW Paragon fourth Sweet Talker
War Plumage Stakes - G5+ - 10f - T - 2yo Gate One:
Pied Piper is in good form after his recent win the Spring Cup, however I was mindful that Justa Little Cutie potentially had the upper hand with more successful experience on the surface and at the distance. I felt she was ready for a win here today. Likewise, Moonstorm and Alchemy are both great horses but I felt that the top two had a bit more 'edge' in the field, Moonstorm narrowly missed 2nd place to Pied Piper's consistency. I think Alchemy had a good chance here, but didn't quite keep up with the classier horses in the field.
Forestry Stakes - G4+ - 8f - D - 3yo Gate One: Winning Fire jockeyed by Sammie Pickett [if no other entries can be moved to the Castreem] - moved to Castreem
Undrafted Stakes - G4+ - 8f - T - 3yo Gate One: Moonstorm jockeyed by Devon Blackthorn [if no other entries can be moved to the Charelton] - moved to Charleton
Fate Stay Stakes - G3 - 6f - D Gate One:
Hoosier Derby - G3 - 6f - T Judge Ripley Win. Escape Artist Place. Superb Curiosity Show. Ruling Restraint
OLD HAT STAKES* - 10F - DIRT - 4YO+ F/M Judge Isabelle FIRST Coveted Faith SECOND Fire Goddess THIRD Adrasteia
In a shocker the underdog swept the win today, stunning audience and competition. Fire Goddess and Adrasteia consumed themselves with a rivalry, not paying enough attention to the mare who swung wide and powerhoused to the wire. A whisker separated the second and third placements, Fire was just a smidge hungrier than her counterpart today.
Mars Shield Stakes - G5+ - 7f - T - 2yo Judge Sunfrost win Tap Out place Miss Abilene show Twilight Reign Ordinarily, Miss Abilene seemed to me the type to take this race. However, I felt as though Tap Out would be very on the muscle after his slew of second place finishes and that it would be enough to get the job done here today. Twilight Reign is gorgeous, but ran out of lack against this group today.
Abeline Stakes - G5 - 7f - D - 3yo Gate One:Sophie's Harmony Jockeyed by Myra Collins

Native Street Stakes - G4+ - 6f - D - 3yo Judge Sunfrost win Game Over place Pele's Wrath
This was freaking tough Ripleykins. Both of your fillies are gorgeous. In the end, I thought that Game Over's versatility and will was just enough to beat her stablemate.
Gallant Man Stakes - G4+ - 6f - T - 3yo Gate One:Game Over jockeyed by Maggiletti Reynolds

Seaside Attraction Stakes - G5+ - 12f - D - 2yo Judge Cruisey WIN Virtuoso place Flashbang
Summer Squall Stakes - G5+ - 12f - T - 2yo Judge Cruisey WIN Wild Annie place Piece Of Me
This was Piece Of Me's third race this month which is (in my personal judging style) a lot for a two year old. I suggest resting her for a bit!
Cousin Jo Stakes - G5 - 8f - D - 3yo Judge Sunfrost win Maleficent place Sophie's Harmony show Glory Run
Barn Swallow Stakes - G5 - 8f - T - 3yo Judge Sunfrost win Regal Rose place Vibe
What a pair of upcoming horses these two are. Regal Rose just barely outfooted Vibe to the wire, using her speed to her advantage in order to close this deal. Vibe is such an up and comer - with a record like his and more experience, you could definitely hit some Green/Red Mile races this season if you prep well for them. Regal Rose's last two outings managed to give her the edge here, but she strikes me as a classy individual. If entries come up light for the Turf Triple Sprinter Tiara, I'd definitely toss her in for the experience if nothing else. She could surprise you!

SUNSHINE MILLIONS DISTAFF* - G2+ - 9F - D - 4YO+ F/M isabelle FIRST Impressionable SECOND Fire Goddess THIRD Enrapture FOURTH Awestruck FIFTH Ghostly Girl
Ghostly Girl was not happy taking the lead today with three stalkers behind her, they all only had each other to stalk, basically, which meant there was a lot of shuffling as they tried to push each other around. Enrapture stayed at the back, but with the stalkers pushing an increasing pace to intimidate each other forward she had a little difficulty keeping close enough but saving enough.

I hated placing Phoenix Inferno here, Isabelle do not get discouraged with his placing here he was against a strong field and did give Cascabel a run for the money. Try running him in some undercards to get that confidence level back up he will come around again.
Cool Lake Marathon - M - 12f - D - 2yo cruisey WIN Night Terror PLACE True Speed show Natural Defiance
The boys got the best of Natural Defiance here. Without a start under her belt this season the two boys gave her a run for her money, but she kept right with them just until the end where she began her run early on but tired ever so slightly. I think once she gets more experience under her she will be a threat.

SPARTAN STAMPEDE DASH* - G5+ - 7f - T - 3yo PREP FOR THE TURF SPRINTER TRIPLE CROWN kenren WIN Storm Warning PLACE Breaking Point SHOW Seattle Lightning fourth Pied Piper fifth Ruling Restraint sixth Regal Rose
This was a really interesting race to look at. It had a bit of everything - some excelled as juveniles and are struggling now, some weren't great as juveniles but are rising on undercards this year, and overall it was actually a fairly level playing field. Some of the results are probably a little surprising, but 3yo sprinter HOTYs are always a bit dodgy this time of year because most of them have had lighter schedules than other horses their age since their series doesn't come until later in the year. That being said, I'd consider every horse in this race, from 1-6, on the road to the turf series. A lot of things can happen between now and then! Not to mention some of these may be green milers. Anyway, this was actually a pretty fun race to judge.
Regal Rose - These colts were destructive, and the filly had more hard-knocking and bump-and-grind than she expected in this race. The filly division isn't any less competitive, so I can't even point at some respite for her there - not that she isn't completely capable of taking them on. It'll be a hard struggle for all of these horses to get to the top, so the filly will have to work even harder!
Ruling Restraint - Like all of these horses, this colt was shifted around a bunch on this finish order. In the end, I figured this was his first real race on the trail, and I believe he'll learn a ton from it. He's got a perfect record to build off of for the later 3yo series, and I think he'll do just that off of this loss.
Storm Warning & Breaking Point - I got to my final two with these, and of the two Storm Warning really grabbed me. But it was nothing if not stupidly close, because I couldn't decide for the longest time. Good luck with these colts!
Pied Piper - Not much I can say here, really. The only thing that bumped him out of the top three was the fact that I really had some conviction about Seattle Lightning snagging that third place spot. So basically I'm saying he'll learn from this one too, and that these horses are so well-matched that none of these races will be a shoe-in. Everyone's going to have a shot at the winner's circle before we reach the series.
NEW ECONOMY OAKS* - G5+ - 9f - T - 3yo F isabelle FIRST Kismet SECOND Roses Rampant THIRD Silent Front
Knight's Ransom: He definitely needs more confidence and easier racing. This was a good race to get his feet wet, but I would suggest placing him undercards until he starts winning again.

Aside from Tiny Dancer, who was out of her league in this one, I had a case for every one of these to hit top three. In the end it was a surprisingly vicious field for this point in the season and anything can happen and I'm just going to walk away now xD

I didn't want to judge this race because I thought I might have to do this, and I didn't want to. I wanted to give Lawless her big break. But I when I looked at the other horses in this race, it just didn't seem fair to punish them when they've all been running such great seasons. Now I can't guarantee that Lawless will totally pull to form for the CTT, but it's such a new series and I think this is a good step toward making her competitive in it. Just get her every bit of exposure you can until it happens. Moving from that, Bona Fide is shaping up very, very nicely, and I'm excited to see what she'll do! She just barely nabbed this from an obviously very strong Wild Tide.

All three are very good three year olds. I thought that Whistle Blower and Truly Limitless would go head to head for the duration of the race, with the colt coming out on top at this point. He tracked the filly mercilessly and ground out the win. Insouciant strikes me as a colt that needs some racing to get his head in the right direction, especially with his excitable personality

I really like Tortuga's running style, for his first start he was very lucky to have broken his maiden. He seems to me like he will rock the 10f range. I feel like Devil You Know will benefit from 8/9f races but she seems to me like she'd be a killer dirt miler. Wise Guy had a tough break today but you're doing nothing wrong with him at all. Try him in shorter distance races cause he seems to like them more.
Foxy's Den Maiden - M - 10f - T - 2yo Kenren WIN Tempered Tempest PLACE Truly Something SHOW Bizarre Redemption
Frost Fair Stakes - G5+ - 11f - D - 2yo cruisey WIN What So Not PLACE Night Terror SHOW The Dark Knight fourth Surrealism
This was a reaaally close one between all four. Don't be down on Surrealism's placing, he put up a huge effort but couldn't quite get there in time. He needs a confidence booster race with less than 3 entries to get that white off his record. What So Not had great back-class as he dipped his toes in the HoTY races which boosted him up for the win today. Night Terror and The Dark Night were hot on his tail and it was very tight between the two of them for second.

OAK TREE SPRINT* - G5+ - 7f - T - 3yo F PREP FOR THE TURF TRIPLE SPRINTER TIARA lolly WIN. Amaris PLACE. Wings of Jayde SHOW. Kismet Fourth. Moonstorm
These girls are all pretty incredible. I had the feeling that Amaris was developing quite the preference for the 7F mark, and her huge ammount of HOTY experience was a big benefit to her success here; not to mention she's an impressive filly who has seen near twice as many wins as some of the field. I think it could have gone either way with Wings of Jayde and Kismet. Kismet perhaps had an advantage as far as her impressive class, and the two were close in my eyes. Eventually I swung mildly in favour of Wings of Jayde for the second as she gave me the impression she was perhaps going to be a little stronger than Kismet at the shorter distance; I think the tables could turn in a longer race. Last but definitely not least, Moonstorm wasn't far off the action. This field was hugely classy with a lot of impressive wins between them, and though entirely capable I just felt the other three had an edge over her with their impressive track record in big races.

This was a close call really Vibe was not making this race easy for anyone but Breaking Point was consistent to make the win. Headstrong's stubborn streak earned her a victory today as a result of her pushing herself and competing with the high class mares that were in this race today. Adrasteia and Fire Goddess were almost at a stalemate with one another as they dueled it out on the turf a third of the way through the race while Impressionable followed the pack and let them do their thing encouraging them to keep at a fast pace. Unfortunately, Impressionable couldn't pass Fire Goddess today and wasn't able to set the pace herself coming into the home stretch.

Enchanted Lust and Insouciant brought up the back of the pack along with Native Charm for a good part of the race for a good while. Over Time definitely put her butt into gear today and whipped herself into shape to narrowly rip a win from Devil You Know today. The crowd had placed their bets on Devil You Know yet Over Time maintained a steady stride throughout the race. Despedida edged up behind Devil You Know and tried to pass her but the boy just needed a little more time to lengthen his stride.

Although a colt who is incredibly versatile across a variety of distances, I felt like it's been a while since Eternally last had a good race at this distance - the mile. Breaking Point was an absolute powerhouse today and I am happy to say that this race is his defining G1-achievement moment. Flawless Majesty was perfect and acted as a median between the first and third place horses and riled them up and kept them on their toes.

Getting Animatia to G1 (thus adding 3 more wins to her record, obvs) would probably help her in a field like this. This was an odd pace scenario overall, and in this particular case Fore Goddess had an uncharacteristically hard time settling. This gave Sophie's Pride, who had a very clear trip on the rail, a chance to sneak by for third.

The speed fest up front favored those who weren't there. Pure Innocence took a long-awaited-for victory in style, with Gladiator just behind. The bottom three dueled fiercely for their placings. I love all of them. Took The Night is adorable. Close between all.
Prairie Gold Juvenile - G5+ - 10f - D - 2yo isa FIRST Amnesty SECOND Moonshine THIRD Night Terror FOURTH Beyond Constellation
Amnesty should probably not be in undercards any more, I think she's capable of HOTY.
Emerald Express Stakes - G5+ - 10f - T - 2yo rende WIN Wild Annie place Belladonna show Miss Lieutenant 4th The Raven 5th Winged Passion
I assume with the top two that y'all have already made plans to introduce them into a more HOTY-savvy season. Those girls are well on their way to becoming formidable fillies going the distance. Both have adequate staying power which kept them out of harm's way from the bottom three. Miss Lieutenant managed to maintain a lead over the bottom two, but she was starting to tap out with The Raven pushing her in the homestretch. The Raven is an ideal miler-prospect and I hope you plan on directing him to the mile series next year.
Winged Passion stumbled out of the gate at the start and it put her right behind The Raven as a result. The colt absolutely refused to let anyone surpass him, which left Winged Passion stranded. All great horses - as is the norm - but great horses make for bad company with other great horses at times.
aurelia, be sure to update Miss Lieutenant's page to 'Grade 5 or G5' since she's not a maiden anymore :3 It will avoid the chance of other judges accidentally penalizing her for that.

Cormack Stakes - G5 - 9f - D - 2yo FIRST Rogue Prince SECOND Louisiana Blues THIRD Ouro Lume FOURTH Night Terror FIFTH Beyond Constellation
Night Terror strikes me as liking longer distances, this was a field heavy on front runners, with an extra furlong or two I think he would have gotten into his closing kick stronger.
Beyond Constellation-She's definitely struggling here, she needs some smaller fields and I'd suggest looking at her racing style in particular for a potential change. It says she's variable, but that she needs blinkers and cotton in her ears. I am no racing expert, but to me those suggest that if she's bothered by sights and sounds she should be a front runner, to have the open space and air in front of her. It also sounds like she prefers shorter distances, with her being a speed demon and not liking to be held back. I'd really like to see her succeed, I'd suggest doing an overhaul on her racing style perhaps or give her a furlong extension to 7 or 6. Either way I think her preferences aren't fitting very well with her written racing style. Could make a difference!
Finbar Stakes - G5 - 9f - T - 2yo WIN Lasheeva PLACE Ice Fiend SHOW Rebound FOURTH Takeover Bid
A huge upset today, I felt that Lasheeva gave it her all in this race and simply said no to another out of the money finish to pull forward for the win. *Just a side note, Holly , Lasheeva's racing style describers her as a closer/mid-pack, but she's listed as a front runner on her page.

SALVATOR MILE STAKES* - G2+ - 8F - DIRT - 3YO+ WIN Night Visions place Artemis Glory show Incognito [nose] 4th Coincidence 5th Hellfire 6th Barely A Sound
I get that SOPS horses normally are expected to be in their top form 100% of the time, but the two stablemates just couldn't get their head in the game today. Incognito was in the mood to challenge Coincidence today right out of the starting gate, jostling each other a bit in the process. It was a duel between the two which ended with Incognito edging over the finish line before his stablemate. Night Visions used this to his advantage and came up behind the two SOPS horses moving like a well-oiled machine to earn his first win of the season. Artemis had her work cut out for her today trying to outpace the strong stallions in this race. But the Y15 BC Juv. Turf Sprint winner had not forgotten her roots and showed off a burst of speed right at the end of the race. The bottom two weren't as lucky and couldn't get around the dueling pack in front of them.
Week 4
Compassion Stakes - G5 - 11f - D - 2yo FIRST Arrows Away SECOND Night Terror THIRD The Dark Knight FOURTH Ouro Lume FIFTH What So Not SIXTH Leviticus
In this race Arrows Away was able to make it wire to wire. With such a heavy front pack Ouro Lume got stuck behind the leader, boxed in with Knight beside her and What So Not behind her. The two closers held back, with Night Terror able to break around the outside and box in What So Not from making a move in enough time for a better slot while Knight also encroached for the front of the pack. Everybody was fighting for positions but with the top three in a row barreling for the finish it made it impossible for the bottom three to break through.

Western Heritage Stakes - G5+ - 8f - D - 2yo FIRST Hidden Scheme SECOND Rogue Prince THIRD Charmed Weapon FOURTH Flash and Class
Vandal Stakes - G5+ - 8f - T - 2yo Win. The Raven Place. Took The Night Show. Twilight Reign
The Raven: I think he's ready to move into HOTY company to at least test the waters.
Took The Night: I like her. She's a fun mare. I'm not sure if you're missing a result, however, because there isn't a placing beside Aug Wk 3 in the results section of her page.
Twilight Reign: I'd start running her at shorter distances again. She seems like another Sugar Demon who excels at 6.5F and less.

Foxglove Stakes - G5 - 6f - T - 2yo (NW2 HOTY) cru WIN Twilight Reign PLACE Whistle Blower SHOW Rebound fourth Escapade
Escapade set a blistering pace which worked against him today with a field of mid-runners to stalkers. Twilight Reign was set up perfectly for this trip and was tired of placing behind the leaders. She won at her preferred distance over Whistle Blower, who was hot on her tail. Rebound felt a little cramped at 6f but due to the fast pace he wasn't able to quite make it to the front in time.

Incognito was up against some horses with incredible speed. He struck me as needing more distance with this caliber of horses better suited to the distance, he missed out by a whisker. This isn't to say he can't win at 8F because his record says otherwise, but the rest of the field was better suited to this range today.

BETSY ROSS STAKES* - G2+ - 8F - T WIN. Cyclonaria PLACE. Firestorm SHOW. National Treasure Fourth. Fantasy Island
Cyclonaria is quite terrifying. xD I felt Firestorm was the most equipped to survive her today, he had the experience at the range he needed to hold his own and the temperament to maintain it. Fantasy Island, though a very strong competitor, I felt wasn't quite so much in her element as Firestorm and with the fast pace the top two pushed, would have liked some more room to make her move. I really wanted to see National Treasure overcome this aggressive field with her sound mind and cool ways, I really think with more distance she could have outlasted the top three and let them all tire one another. With her HOTY experience in a few tough fields this year, she was ready to succeed but couldn't quite catch the top two.

GODOLPHIN MILE** - G1 - 8F - SAND - 4YO+ FIRST Hellfire $600,000 cruisey SECOND Southern Peach $300,000 holly THIRD Incognito $100,000 sunfrost
With no front runner it was left to Incognito, who set a very slow pace and set up the two closers to overtake him at the end. Had this race been longer the outcome could be different. Frosty maybe get Inc up to 10/11 furlongs again? Kind of thinking a mile isn't enough for him.
Mostaqeleh Stakes - G5 - 11f - D - 2yo Win. Ouro Lume Place. Night Terror Show. Englishman Fourth. True Speed Fifth. Sweet Talker
Very little pace in this race made it very hard for the closers to catch Ouro Lume. Speaking of Ouro Lume, I would probably rest her because she's just run her 17th race and has not had a single full month off in Y17. She strikes me as a potential star in the upcoming season. A little R&R would probably do her some good.

Rogue Prince: I definitely see him as more of a middle distance 7-9F horse at this moment. He might be able to stretch out at some point with maturity.
Note: With the exception of Exotic Dancer, all of these guys have extensive two year old seasons. I would consider either resting them the remainder of November, all of December or at least January Y18 to give them a break from racing.

Wildcat King - I really love this colt and loved racing his dam. His pedigree lends me to believe he should stick with the turf for now because his latest performances on the dirt have resulted in consistent thirds and a fourth.
ICEBIRD STAKES* - T - 5.5F - G5+ - 2YO WIN Phaedra PLACE Escapade show Twilight Reign
Twilight Reign hasn't had a long break since April and should really rest for the remainder of the year going into Y18 if you're not planning on running her in the Breeder's Cup. Same with Phaedra, she's been running a lot this year and hasn't had a full month off. I'd rest her until she runs in the BC.
