Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!

4. Piece of Me (by Infinite Warcry): G4 winner on a consistent incline of improvement! No significant HoTY victories quite yet
I feel she's awfully close to getting this if she produced another foal like In The Spotlight and Spotlight Pride. For me I feel a mare needs at least three really solid foals who succeeded strongly in most of their racing years. Ode To Glory isn't quite the same caliber as the other two and Piece Of Me has yet to be HOTY proven.
I dunno, I disagree with that (and on the other one). Obviously you can vote no if you feel that way, but just for another perspective:
A breeding horse doesn't have to have a bunch of HOF-quality foals to be in the BHOF. They just need to be strong producers. I mean, look at the requirements - while it's not an automatic win, the requirements only require 3 G1-level horses, and both of these nominees are well beyond that. For this horse, you've got 3 BC winners from 3 to retire. That's really exceptional! For Little Miss Innocent, each of her foals has either won a classic race (or multiple) or a BC race, which is even more incredible. There are inductees with less than that. We need to be realistic in what we consider very good, and keep in perspective how rare the accomplishments of these horses really are
Well, I guess the way I look at it, these days its extremely rare for a horse to retire before reaching G1. Most horses accomplish this. Which is why I feel it's necessary to see more than just 3 foals reaching G1 to be in the BHOF. Otherwise, nearly every mare can then be added in. As we're expanding tracks, races, stable rosters, and much more HOTY is available, it makes me think we need to up the requirements for HOFers. I'm not looking for HOF solid foals, but HOTY solid foals who proved that over several racing years. -shrug- I just won't vote in these then I guess as I don't understand what you all look for in these horses. Sorry.
Unfortunately you're going to have to keep voting in these, otherwise we wouldn't get enough votes to have any horse inducted into the HOF lol. With more horses, races still continue to be as prestigious as they were, and because we have even more horses it makes these feats harder to achieve. A mare who has multiple progeny winning multiple top level HOTY races, in addition to a Breeder's Cup race to me itself proves she belongs in the BHOF, but that's my opinion:)
Well when we're forced to explain why we said no and not why we said yes, it singles out the nayers to be potentially pounced on. I felt a little ganged up on here, and it nearly made me cry. No one was mean or rude, but I'm still a very sensitive person even with all my therapy, and I don't handle certain social situations well. I can't figure out how to be a calm assertive person who can kindly agree to disagree, it's very difficult for me not to get upset/hurt in that kind of situation. So perhaps either let the votes just lie on the table anonymously or let everyone who votes explain their vote so everyone can read the motivations and learn what everyone is thinking about why a horse should or shouldn't be in (this would benefit new members voting who don't have much idea what qualities define this kind of horse). You said it's your opinion that's it's yes, but I feel a little scared to ever vote no now as my opinion was negated by several staff members instead of being allowed to stand on it's own, even if it stood alone. I'm sadly not a debating type person, I can hear arguments but I don't have the ability to participate in them without a degree of emotional response. I'm only one vote, and it seems likely Sunfrost won't have a problem getting votes for all four of her horses to be inducted, so my no on three of them really doesn't matter
Well . . . if people who say yes don't explain but only argue after someone says no how does that really help . . . ? o.o It would help a lot more if everyone stated their reasons regardless of if they said yes or no. Is this a voting process or a debating floor? I can vote but I can't debate. Voting for me means an anonymous vote yes or no based on your own reasons for doing so. A debate is laying it on the table why you're choosing a side so others can agree or disagree with you and a discussion is formed. Like I said I really can't debate, I recognize in myself I take things much too personally and I become overly emotional about it, so I choose not to engage in it because I know I do not handle it well. I cannot vote if my no votes will be changed into a debate. I really enjoy listening to various viewpoints, it really helps me to understand and grasp concepts, but I normally cannot engage in taking a side of a debate. I do not have the emotional/social skills to do that.
I didn't make this a debate - you did. You posted an opinion, I posted an opinion, and then you began arguing. The conversation's over, because this isn't the thread for a debate over how we run these polls, which is what you've made it. If you have any further comments, please take it to a more appropriate area like the Jockey Room.
