Rough Boy retires from the track

- patience. PERSEVERANCE. perfection. -

ROUGH BOY first came to our stables in 2017 as an aspiring three year old colt that had long since been cast in his twin brother's, Tuff E' Nuff, shadow. He is one of the many foals sired by the heavily popular TRUE ENOUGH which led to him getting somewhat lost in his plethora of half-siblings.

A pleasant horse to be around, he was gelded in the summer of 2018 in hopes that it would help with his high strung, stud-like tendencies and it did make him more manageable as time went on. This colt held on for a good, long run and we hope that he did his breeder, New Hope Acres, proud while he ran under our colors.

The now gelding had a total of 41 starts and every race went by without a hitch. He was more gung-ho for the undercards and had a time keeping up with the competition when it came down the favorites in high stakes HOTY races.

Still, the gelding persevered  placed in two HOTY races this year for his four year old season with is final start being a second place finish in an undercard. We're proud of this gelding and have decided to get him ready for a new career as a track pony come spring so that we may put more focus into the rest of our incoming five year old string.

We thank Sammy for the opportunity to raise and run this beautiful True Enough son and are looking forward to see how his brother does during his final years on the track and to his future career as a stud in the near future.
