Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
As mid-year evaluations settle in, there are inevitably a few little peanuts on the tracks that are holding their own - but haven't really gotten into that winner's circle much. As older runners, their fate is more heavily determined by the coming autumn season, which in turn determines how much of a presence REI can have at the late tough competitions, such as Breeder's, and how much longer they'll be on the tracks. So it's time to shed some light on some of the ladies and gentlemen who are ready to pop out of their shells!
JUSTA LITTLE CUTIE + Having passed our inspection in June to stick around on the tracks a little longer, this cute little darling has been keeping her hooves close to that finish line this season, but hasn't quite been able to get her victories. She won her first race of the year back in January of week one, and now that over six months have passed, we'd like to wave her little flag! She's a capable lady, we'd love to see her gather up more to be able to attend Breeder's for the first time in her career before she retires.
LIBERATED TREASURE + Although we're looking forward to how . . . *ahem* pleasant this girl's foals will be, we feel she's still in the game. One of the rare occurrences where we find a mid-year who has stayed in the money thus far, we know that could quickly change, but also see that she's falling short of her competitors. With nearly a solid consecutive year of HOTY quality running under her, we're pegging her to hit that winning stride soon, which is why we chose to let her continue running.
PIED PIPER + Our eager sprinter, Pips might have a slightly smaller record this season than his competitors, as we were trying a 'quality over quantity' approach. While this certainly hasn't failed, he's a few wins shy were we'd have liked to see him with the second half of the season looming. He's got six tough races coming in the next three months, and we'd hoping to see him shape up his record.
STYLISHLY WILD + Having pulled an amazing HOTY set of victories as a four year old who wasn't G1, we had some high expectations for Wild this season, which he hasn't really lived up to. He's the same response of, "doing well, can't complain, but . . . " We'll be keeping an eye on him. Like Pips, he'll be given six strong races in the next few months.
AUTHENTIC AURA + This lady is certainly a favorite around the stables. One of our four 'dream team' members from our classic string last year, Aura has only clinched one victory in nearly a year. We're so proud of her for staying in the money so far - one of those rare moments - but we're hoping she's not being overshadowed by her fellow runners. Although she didn't win a leg of the TT last year, she did win the Valorizzare Derby and the Risorgimento Derby! (I don't believe REI ever won that before.) With two fifths at Breeder's the last two seasons, we'd hoped she'd make one final stand there and improve her placement, but that will depend on how what she does in the next few months.
CHOCOLATIER + Our juvenile HOTY miler who fizzled out early on as a classic, Coco seemed to come back late in that year, but now he's stuck in limbo again. Not having 'spring boarded' from the end of last season, we're wondering if he's going to be able to catch up again. He's definitely been holding his own out there, but he's only captured one open HOTY win.
CLASSY LADY + Just pulling her second win for the year this past week, Classy Lady is one of our frustrating "I'll do really well in HOTY overall in seconds and thirds but I'll only win undercards" XD We are on the fence over this lady coming back for another year - it will probably depend on if she can pull a HOTY victory or two before the season is over. She's close to G1, so we're crossing our fingers she can make that by the end of December.
FRENCH QUARTER + Our big battering ram, Rennie has definitely been doing us proud this year! We're not quite sure why he hasn't struck that winner's circle gold yet, as he is quite built up for it. With Eternally Smoldering gone, he was our go to guy for the turf tracks, but he hasn't been able to step into those hoof prints.
