02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄

08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e

07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!

Carter’s thumb worked on clicking the top of his pen, staring at the three horses that were finishing their gallop nice and strong. Insouciant, Rebound and Orpheus were looking healthy and strong going into 2020. They all had a nice shine to even their winter coat, and the Firestone team had a strong feeling that the three seniors were fully prepped and ready to get the ball rolling. The trainer was too enthralled in watching his seniors that he didn’t notice the nudge from Evelyn, signalling that the second to last group of juveniles were ready for their last workout before their debuts.
Black Wedding definitely did not look like a two-year-old horse, or even a filly for that matter. She wasn’t tall, but what she lacked in height she made up for in muscle mass and attitude. Quite the combination, if Carter must say. What Royal demands, Royal usually gets otherwise the safety of the staff comes first. Boy, she really detests people but as soon as you put her on the track, she is all business. Despite Royal trying to throw her jockey, Devon, multiple times something between them had really “clicked” over the Christmas holidays. Royal’s black tail streamed behind her in a relaxed position and she really seemed to float across the track. She had a somewhat low head carriage, but that was something that could be retrained over time.
Plodding along beside her (gracefully, if I must add) was the resident deer, Dyani. With ears the size of satellite dishes, eyes that seemed to bulge out of her head, Dia wasn’t Firestone’s ‘prettiest’ horse. Right now, she was too bum high for her own good and had legs twice the size of her body, but when she got down to business, holy shit could she run. Dia was bright eyed and excitable as they cantered sideways down the track, her tongue flapping outside of her mouth throwing slobber in Royal’s direction, who pinned her ears at the immature filly beside her. James had a loose grip on her reins, letting Dia relax into the bridle as he conversed with the two jockeys beside him.
Naomi completed the field aboard Santana’s Secret’s final baby before she was relieved of her broodmare duties. A highly anticipated colt out of Saintly Touch, Secret Touch was almost a dead ringer for his sire. Broad-chested and intimidating, Slater wasn’t expected to mature the way he did; but his parents sure knew how to stamp their foals. He was quietly cantering beside the two fillies, who he paid no attention to. Slater was such a work horse; he wastes no time getting to business and would rather be left alone; if it wasn’t for a little fun competition.
The three horses looked damn good working together as a group since each one of them had the exact same racing style. They loved to stalk, hunt, prey on their victims as they thundered down the backstretch for the first and last time of their work. Royal eyed Dia and Slater, who didn’t look bothered by the lack of speed they were producing. Devon didn’t even need to ask for a little bit more from his horse before she took matters into her own hands. He felt her stride open up just slightly, putting them a length in front of the others. This seemed to make her happy, and Devon gave her a little pat on the neck as they galloped calmly.
Slater was the next horse to make a move, not liking that Royal had overtaken him. Naomi gave him a little check to make sure he was listening to her before asking him to open up that slight bit more, to which he responded eagerly. Within three strides, Slater was breathing down Royal’s neck, pestering her for the lead. She responded by pinning her ears. Dia was stealthy with her increase in speed, long legs propelling her forward easily and quickly. James dropped her back and guided her smartly to the outside, where she would be able to unfurl her legs a lot easier.
As the group galloped around the turn, none of the horses seemed to be going any faster, but as soon as Carter watched in closely, he noticed something different. Their speed stayed the same, but their stride grew longer, and they all hunkered down as if they were running against the wind. Their coats gleamed in the sunlight that reflected off of the snow that had dusted the sides of the track overnight, and with each stride a cloud of steam billowed out of their nostrils. All three horses were in sync as they passed Carter, who looked down at his watch. Remarkable. He thought to himself. Royal didn’t like the idea of slowing down, so she decided to throw some romps and semi-bucks into her cool down; Devon sitting to her antics very impressively. Dia had a ‘smile’ on her face as she came down to a walk, followed by Slater who wasn’t even showing signs that he had galloped a few furlongs; he looked ready to go another round. This year would definitely be an interesting one.
