The yard was alive with preparations for the upcoming season and horses were brought back up to fitness following breaks while others were making one last run at home before making their debuts. In this already busy period, something had been happening at Golden Valley Stables - a quick transfer, underneath the radar, but one which had both Chris and Alexia excited. The two of them had gone over the notes which had arrived with him, discussed, and waited while the colt settled in, but now they could finally bring him onto the track. Along with Alexia's new prodigy; a new junior jockey by the name of Connor O'Malley who would be working with their new colt.

Saxon moved behind the pony with apparent ease as he was led out onto the track - a handsome colt, not overly tall but well built with powerful hindquarters which hinted at his sprinting lineage. His dark eyes gleamed as he looked over the turf, and yet he seemed wholly at ease with the new environment. Winged Warrior, as he would be known on the track, was everything Alexia might have hoped for.

"Do you see that look in his eye?" She asked Chris, grinning. She'd seen it before, in a relative of the colt. Intelligence, observation. Even if he seemed to be just casually strolling behind the pony he was taking everything in. "He has a sharp mind." Chris nodded, although his own focus was on the young boy moving across the track. Eighteen, but Alexia assured the trainer he'd been top of his class in racing school and had a lot of promise. Which had better be true, given that they were putting him on Saxon - descended from Hall Of Fame legends; related to more Breeders' Cup winners than Chris cared to try and recall from the top of his head; the colt held high hopes.

But those bloodlines did not seem the phase the jockey. With calm assertion he had stood before the colt and the two stared at one another for a long moment before Connor even approached and lay a hand on the colt's flank. Saxon snorted, tensed, and then the jockey was pulling himself into the saddle. Saxon bucked once... twice... then calmed. Connor had sat the youngster's protest and allowed him to calm before gathering the rein and proceeding with the warm up.

The colt trotted around the track with that same calm confidence with which he always held himself, shifting up to a canter for two furlongs before Connor pushed him into a full gallop - pushing his quick and fast. It was a challenge, and one which Saxon was all too willing to respond to. He didn't just push to gallop, he flew forwards; his legs unfurling as he quickened, giving his all and wearing his heart on his sleeve and boy could the colt run. In a burst of speed which champions would be proud of Saxon was tearing up the track and while it lasted only two furlongs it was taste enough. The colt had the blood of a warrior, the mind of a warrior, and he would fight on the track in such a way that he would contest any challenge he was given. All in, he was a colt well named and Connor was a welcome addition to the team.
