Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll

Basics
Name: Carnelian YOB: Y19
Gender: Colt
Color: Chestnut
Height: 15.3hh, will mature to 17hh
Pedigree: Foundation x Foundation
Personality: - Carnelian had a rough start to life. His dam had trouble during the delivery and died soon after Carnelian was born. He was very sickly and weak for the first few months, and few expected him to survive. Several grooms loved the little colt and took excellent care of him, bottle feeding him, giving him necessary vitamins, taking him for walks, grooming him and loving him. Within a few months he began to flourish and started filling out. He loves playing and has a very goofy loveable personality off-track. He loved his small group of grooms that doted on him. He became somewhat spoiled and didn't take to well to training. He prefered to hangout, get scratches and treats. After many months of working with him, his trainers finally managed to get him on the track. It was a small training track, with only a few other youngsters working out. As soon as he stepped on the track and realized what it was for, he became a totally different horse. He fought for his head, hard, wanting to race by all the others. He pinned his ears at passing horses and hated to stop. His trainers were pleasantly surprised at his competitive on-track demeanor. Carnelian has amazing stamina, and once he finds his pace, he can keep it well. He tends to try for the lead as soon as the gate opens but is always held back. He is most successful when he stays behind the leaders and is let go on the homestretch. He becomes very headstrong on the track and hates being told what to do. He usually throws a fit while entering the gate but stands calmly after he is all the way in. Once a race is finished he goes back to his goofy treat demanding self. Even though he was never gelded, and there aren't any plans to do so, he behaves exceptionally for a young colt.
Personality: - Lady Merle is a lazy filly. She walks slowly, eats slowly, works out slowly--and races fast. She exactly what a race is and what a workout is, and she runs accordingly. She goes into the gate slowly, taking her sweet time and inspecting and smelling everything. As soon as she's in the gate she tends to relax and her jockey usually has to tug her mane or do something to keep her alert and ready to break. She breaks slowly, usually behind the others and starts off with a long, slower stride. She catches up quite quickly and keeps a steady position near the back of the pack. Her strides are long and steady. She finds her pace quickly and speeds up slowly. The longer the distance, the more time for her long strides to speed up. As soon as she begins to move up in the pack she turns her speed on and starts going long and fast. She gains ground quickly this way. The only problem is that it takes a bit of encouraging to get her to move up from behind.
Off track she has a very laid back attitude. She doesn't pay attention to whatever is going on and couldn't care less if you blew a foghorn outside her barn. she has a very different attitude around food. She is defensive and protective of her meals and hates having anyone around while she eats. She loves being groomed but hates anyone messing with her mane and tail.
