Carter watched the dust billow in the wind behind the familiar black and red Firestone trailer as it rolled up the gravel driveway before parking itself in front of the main barn. Three shrill whinnies pierced his ears as he helped lower the trailer ramp onto the ground. The first horse that shot off the trailer was covered in a thin layer of sweat, her eyes as wide as the Grand Canyon. Take Me Higher wasted no time removing herself from the small box, prancing her way down the ramp as a nearby groom ushered her away to the empty stall that was awaiting her arrival. She was the youngest out of the horses Carter recently acquired from Montgomery Acres on upsetting terms. The poor Holly Montgomery was going through some tough times and Carter graciously agreed to take some of his best back to live at Firestone for a while.

Carter remembered the day Take Me Higher, or Tater as they liked to call her, was born at Firestone Stud. She was Heidi's first foal, and after some minor complications, was able to deliver this beautiful bay filly. Tater was still growing but was expected to mature at least over 17hh - a size that broodmare manager Jenna did not expect from the cross that happened. Tater has a few races under her belt this season and already broke her dreaded maiden win thanks to the training of Ms. Montgomery. She has already showed a liking for the turf - just like her dad.

Second out of the trailer was a horse that Carter was pleased to have in his barn. The sleek dark bay colt by the name of Samaritan Hero emerged with his ears up and eyes bright and alert. He wasn't as dark as his beautiful daddy, but he was an eye-catcher. Hero matured nicely from his juvenile season, already getting 3 races under his belt on his way to the Triple Crown. While 2 were out of money finishes, Carter believed he could turn him around this season if Hero wanted to win - and he did. You could see it in his eyes - he has the same energy his sisters possess and Firestone was excited to see what he could pull off this season.

Last out was a familiar chestnut face with a perfect blaze - Hot Looks. Hottie knew she looked good, but man she sure was a bitch. She had her ears pinned against her head as her groom tried to attach the shank to her halter. There was a mean look in her eye but Carter knew who this filly was and she seemed to perk up at a familiar face. Hottie was an extremely consistent mare but has yet to hit the HOTY's this season. She has also been stuck at the Grade Two level for a while, but Carter knew this filly loved to work and he knew he could get here there with some patience.
