Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
Rose Thorns Silvara and Lillian Howe Primrose and Annabel Waters
Two silhouettes pierced the track's morning fog, one a faint outline and another bold and dark. The gray filly, Silvara stood behind Primrose, who came to be called Syl's guardian angel. The dark bay filly with the pretty white markings on her face moved into a slow, ambling trot, Syl right behind her. The duo would hopefully make their debut February week 2, their first starts delayed quite a bit. Rain started to fall as the two fillies loaded into the gates, mud starting to splash around their forelegs.
A ringing sound burst into the air and the horses were off, hooves sinking into the soft turf. Silvara surged ahead to take the lead, her flighty nature forgotten in her match up. Prim was close behind though, carefully avoiding the clumps of grass and mud that flew into her face. The two horses powered through, seemingly moving slow because of the haziness of the rain. Well, that couldn't be further from the truth. Syl and Prim were neck and neck now, heading down the final stretch of the workout. With laboring strides and everything she had to give, Silvara forced her nose in front, taking a hard earned victory. It seemed the pair would be well prepared for the their first start.
Royalty Royal Duchess and Dylan Gray Palisades Princess and Myra Collins
Two matching bay fillies trotted with their heads held high. Their coats were groomed to perfection, glinting in the sunlight and visibly shining. To finish their appearance, their pitch black mane and tails were tangle free and silky. Both Royal Duchess and Palisades Princess looked like royalty, that was for sure. The only difference between the two were their personalities. Jules was a demanding, aggressive, and determined animal. She definitely fooled people with the name Royal Duchess. Sadie, on the other hand, was attention seeking and elegant, wanting nothing more than to please everyone around her. Their time to prove themselves on the track was now.
The bays loaded excitedly, moving around inside the gates before they opened. Sadie jumped out quickly, staying true to her front runner style. Jules stayed about a length behind, her attention focused on the taller filly up ahead. Seconds passed before the pair finally reached the last stretch. Royal Duchess started making her move, her powerful strides taking her to the front in an instant. Before long, she passed Palisades Princess, first by head. Then a neck. Now almost half a length. They crossed the finish marker, Jules the decided victor.
End Game Ragnarok and Myra Collins Saros and Lillian Howe
Two bay juveniles nudged each other gently, a playful look on both of their faces. Unfortunately, these two Thoroughbreds, Ragnarok and Saros, were getting a late start on the tracks. The first workout would be today, a short breeze from the gates to get them ready for their first start. Saros and Rok were gated rather quickly, both excitedly pawing the dirt before the gates burst open. Rok took the lead, Saros right behind him, close on the other's heels. A close race pursued, both pushing each other to be their best. The last marker came along on the track, Rok making his move, Saros coming a little later. A neck and neck battle resulted in a close finish, though it appears Saros crossed just a nose ahead of his stablemate.
Cooperation Resistance and Myra Collins, 4F on Turf
Resistance trotted around the turf track, still wearing a pleasant expression, a great contrast from his usual sour face. Myra guided him to the gates, where his ears immediately pinned. He planted his front hooves, refusing to move any closer to the metal contraption. With some convincing the gray colt finally loaded with a snort, only to kick and prance around in place inside the gate. Without a second to lose, Roy jumped out of the gates as soon as they opened. He gained ground with every increasing stride, enjoying the feeling of freedom on the track. Myra and Resistance reached the end marker and she let him go, letting the colt increase his speed. They passed the finish marker, satisfied looks on both jockey and horse's faces. By the appearance of things, it seems Myra and Resistance finally formed their bond. Finally cooperating with each other as one being.
