02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.

08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e

07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!

Hello everybody and welcome to the Y21 Breeders Cup Betting Contest!
Your host (again) this year is Cruisey . I'm really excited to see who everyone bets on. Due to the new points system, there will now be LIVE odds this year! This should bring some realism to the contest and based on how the season has been going, I’m expecting some big upsets this year.
The rules for this are very simple: Take a look at the Breeders Cup entries [provided in the second post]. PM your picks to myself by the time the judging at TW and BSD is complete. Any bets submitted after races commence will not count! All bets must be sent by PM to be counted - this is to avoid biasing potential judges. I may announce come xxx who the favorite is for each race based on the bets received, but that is as much info as you will get about how other people are betting.
How many horses can I pick for each race? Choose who you believe will win, place, and show for each race. This year, I’ll be allotting some bonus points to those who want to see if they can correctly predict the entire field’s placings for one, multiple, or all the races! Just for some added fun hehe.
Can I bet on my own horses? Yes!! Of course. Bet on whichever horses you would like.
How will points be calculated? Here is the point system that will be utilized for this contest:
Trifecta [correctly predicted win, place, show] = 10 points Exacta [correctly predicted win, place] = 8 points Win/Place/Show [correctly predicted win or place or show] = 2 points
Trifecta Box [correctly predicted the horses in top three, but wrong order] = 6 points Exacta Box [correctly predicted the horses in top two, but wrong order] = 4 points
BONUS POINTS if you correctly succeed with a trifecta/exacta in a race with seven entries! This will net you 2 extra points for each [so 12 points for a trifecta and 10 points for an exacta].
If you correctly predict the horse in first and the horse in third but got the horse in second wrong and did not include that horse in your top three picks, you will receive 4 points in total [2 points for the winner, 2 points for the horse in third].
**If you correctly predict the order of finish, you get an extra 15 POINTS for that race!
The point total will be tallied and then divided by the total number of races you bet on to create an average. This average will be the number of points you earn for the contest.
What will the prizes be?
1st Prize: The LAST breeding for a Y22 or Y23 foal from MOURNING PASSION (Kenren/Valkyrie Stud) + 10 bonus horse points (more to come on those!)
2nd Prize: A breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Cruisey/Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points
3rd Prize: A breeding reserve to SACCHARINE (Lolly/Highgrove Thoroughbreds) + 10 bonus horse points
First place has first pick of any one of the above prizes!

We had ONE FULL Trifecta ticket winner in the following race: BREEDER'S CUP JUVENILE SPRINT - Kenren predicted the correct top 3 order so got the Trifecta and 15 bonus points for the order of finish.
Nobody predicted the order of the F&M Turf Mile or got any points for that race. Cruisey (myself) was the only one to get the TRIFECTA BOX on the F&M Dirt Mile. We ALL got the TRIFECTA BOX on the F&M Marathon. Lolly was the only one to get the TRIFECTA BOX on the Marathon. Kenren got the EXACTA on the Turf Marathon. Nobody predicted the Classic finish. Lolly was the only one to get points in the Turf.
