Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
BREEDER'S CUP JUVENILE FILLIES TURF* - 9F T 2YOS F G5+
Welcome to the Y18 Breeders Cup. You have joined just in time to see the Juvenile Fillies Turf. Alethea enters this race as a strong favorite, but can she add to her growing resume? The horses are in the gate, and they're off! Arsenia is quick to take the lead, with Golden Envoy on her heels. Take Me Higher follows the leaders, with Malibu Star closing out the field. Things are unchanged at the front of the field, but Sierra has started to close the gap between her and the leaders. Arsenia and Sierra also seem to be starting to pick up the pace as we reach the turn. Arsenia is pulling ahead of the group which is bunching up as we hit the straight. Malibu Star and Sierra seems to be loosing ground as Alethea starts to make her move. She's passing Take Me Higher and Golden Envoy ralleys. Arsenia seems to be having an easy time of it but Alethea and Golden Envoy are in a heated battle and seem to be catching her. This is going to be close... They're across the line! Waiting on the results of a photo finish.
The results are in.
WIN Arsenia PLACE Alethea SHOW Golden Envoy fourth Take Me Higher fifth Sierra sixth Malibu Star
You heard it here first, folks, Arsenia is the winner of this year's Juvenile Fillies' Turf, holding out by a head over Alethea and Golden Envoy who were split by a nose. I bet her connections are thrilled.
BREEDER'S CUP TURF* - 10F T 3YOS+ G3+ WIN Melusine PLACE Laddie Luck SHOW Natural Selection fourth Vibe fifth Stylishly Wild sixth Knight's Ransom
Oh my god SO MANY FRONT RUNNERS in this field!!! Knight's Ransom and Vibe set blistering fractions early on, followed by Stylishly Wild and Natural Selection. The bottom two burned themselves out a little too quickly, leaving Melusine to run a perfect trip from behind. She's had the best season she's ever ran and it worked in her favour today against some of the best colts and stallions this year. Laddie Luck sat wide throughout the whole race, keeping a close eye on Stylishly Wild and Natural Selection who were forced out of their positional element, otherwise they would have been a lot more comfortable running today.
We've got a field of six big, bold and beautiful boys that we've probably encountered all at one point on the track sporting their stable colors. In gate one we have FLASHBANG giving his handlers a little bit of trouble, the three year old colt seems to be anxious and ready to get this show on the road. In gate two we have BOLD TRICK, a solid three year old seems a bit distracted by the other horses but otherwise loads in fine. Gate three is SEEMS LEGIT, half-brother to Gate Four's INCOGNITO. Both horses seem excited but ready for the challenge ahead. Gate five is the prestigious, prodigal son - UNO MOMENTO who narrowly missed his bid for the BC Classic two years ago. He has come back to the track with a vengeance and looks primed and ready for the challenge. Last, but not least, is the horse of a different color - ENGLISHMAN who balks at the gate before finally being coaxed in.
The gates are closed, the horses have been loading in and - they're off!
Uno Momento immediately surges forward for a strong lead while Flashbang, Incognito, Bold Trick form a tight knit group behind the leader, Seems Legit and Englishman are pulling up the rear. Uno Momento has set a break-neck pace with fire in his hooves and in his eyes and puts some distance between himself and his competition.
As the horses eat up the distance, Flashbang settles back and allows Incognito to overtake him along with Seems Legit hot on his tail. These are some powerful horses! Uno Momento has started to dig deep for that explosive energy he is known for as the stretch comes within sight. It is here that Englishman starts to push hard with a great deal of encouragement and showing of the whip from his jockey so that he can match Bold Trick as he begins to move up.
Seems Legit has started to fade slightly enabling the battling duo of Englishman and Bold Trick to gain the upper hand and round the bend, pushing themselves hard against time. Uno Momento is still maintaining a lead but Incognito is starting to fade slightly as well! His jockey moves to show the whip but the horse has dug deep and seemingly roared back to life after he had drifted closer to the pack, newfound energy pushing him onwards.
Uno Momento is still maintaining a strong lead! Incognito has found new power and is maintaining a slight lead over the remaining midpackers but who's this?! It's Flashbang! Flashbang has found his second wind and is overtaking the tenacious Incognito! Uno Momento is all alone but here comes Flashbang surging behind him like a speed demon into the stretch. The two are matched, the two are dueling devils, the two are hungry for that win! Who will tough it out? Who will cross the wire?
It's FLASHBANG!
Uno Momento trails slightly behind Flashbang in second followed by Incognito, Englishman, Seems Legit and Bold Trick
BREEDER'S CUP CLASSIC* - 10F D 3YOS+ G3+ WIN Flashbang place Uno Momento show Incognito 4th Englishman 5th Seems Legit 6th Bold Trick
Congratulations to the owners and connections of these fine stallions. Here's to hoping they'll lead another great year come 2019!
BREEDERS' CUP MILE WIN Great Revenge place Constitution show Socialite (whisker) 4th Breaking Point 5th Flawless Majesty 6th Fantasy Island
A great combination of three, four and five year olds. The Breeders' Cup series demands the best to commit to their absolute best and these horses gave it their all. Great Revenge was in perfect form throughout the race and was right at home, his experience (all of the horses have this don't worry!) and moxie pushed him to maintain a strong lead throughout the entirety of the race. Constitution hang at the very back of the pack after a late start and maintained a steady pace until he caught back up with the pack. Socialite had beautiful, powerful strides throughout this race and showed the boys that anything they can do, she definitely could do better. Breaking Point was gung ho for Great Revenge and had a title to defend with the BC Mile and set a powerful pace to set an explosive closing finish. Flawless Majesty was surpassed by Breaking Point as he made his bid for the stretch. Fantasy Island found herself shut out by Breaking Point and Constitution and was trying her best to be able to fully open up going into the stretch.
These horses are AMAZING, have AMAZING careers, AMAZING planning and have done an AMAZING job today on the track. They each have their own perks, preferences and BEAUTIFULLY written personalities. I can only offer so much feedback on these guys because their connections have already established regimes that work for these horses and the plan definitely isn't broke. For the horses that are not making this BC their final stand, I look forward to seeing them come next year as well. I found the top three to be the perfect examples of what is described as a miler for this year (although of course they are ALL great examples of milers regardless of age, record, etc).
Any low placings don't overly affect these horses all that much because they set examples of what next year's BC Mile's competition should look forward to and aspire to be.
BREEDER'S CUP JUVENILE TURF* - 9F T 2YOS G5+ WIN Frosted Sunrise place Handsome Loon show Helios 4th Usurper 5th War of the Worlds
What lovely boys you guys have trained up this year! They'll definitely start the year even stronger as three year olds in Y19 and this race was a major stepping stone in their careers - which is a GREAT thing. I'm sure they'll be seeing each other a lot next year if they tackle the turf series or turf crowns so better for them to see each at their best now and be prepared in the spring.
Again these are some EXCEPTIONAL colts that have led a EXCEPTIONAL first year on the track. They'll continue to do their connections proud in the coming months.
BREEDER'S CUP FILLY AND MARE TURF SPRINT* - 7F T 3YOS+ F/M G4+ WIN Game Over Place Final Velocity Show Sugar Rush 4th Sweet Like Sugar 5th Blue Heroine
BREEDER'S CUP TURF MARATHON* - 12F T 3YOS+ G4+ WIN Eternally Smoldering PLACE Roses Rampant SHOW Hyperion fourth Rising Wonder fifth In My Remains
What a strong group of turf runners we got here! Eternally Smoldering finally had his opportunity to shine today and did it with ferociousness. A hot pace set by Rising Wonder gave him a fantastic overall trip. Roses Rampant and Hyperion were gusty throughout the entire race and kicked in with their closing drive together. Rising Wonder is a great colt but was a little bit tired after a long and gruelling season. Nothing wrong with in My Remains, he unfortunately got caught between a lot of horses today and it threw off his game a little bit.
And that folks concludes this year's Breeder's Cup!!
