Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
Although some of them may have been drowned out by the fascination with the hardcore HOTY winners that never miss a beat, the senior string at KCRS still holds out through thick and then come hell or high water. Here's the pre-summer update on our four and five year olds and you can see what they have in store for them next.
DEATHFLASH'S TRUTH Once a good boy, always a good boy. This half-brother to Spotlight Pride had a rather slow start during his 2 and 3 year old seasons. He's still laying low in the G3 undercards and will hopefully be able to pick up the pace in August. He's sure to find his footing at some point in his career as he definitely has the consistency and breeding to back him up. He will no doubt be wrapping up his career early Y19 in order to have a smooth transition into the breeding season.
HELLAGOOD
The homebred 4 year old sprinter that made his debut as a 3 year old has become a slow, yet sure sprinter over the course of his 12 starts, only placing out of the money 3 times. Despite his nasty attitude he has a drive to win. Although at the G4 level there may not be a hope of him being able to keep up with the near unbeatable top HOTY horses at this age, he will have another go at HOTY in July for the Seaspray Cup at GHF. We will try to get him to at least the G3 level before adding him to our stud roster.
PARTYATTHEDISCO
Another home-bred for KCRS and younger full sister to Mardi Gras. This girl has always been one tough cookie and made quite the impact on the HOTY scene as a 3 year old with 2nd and 3rd places in the Florida Derby, Plum Pretty Challenge and Davona Dale Stakes. She seems to have gotten into a rut in her 4 year old season and the fire she had last year seems to have gone elsewhere. She's due for a full exam at the vet office to make sure everything is in working order. If everything turns out okay she'll finish out the year in undercards and join her sister out in the broodmare band at Kennington Farm.
RISE ME GOLD
Hopefully you didn't forget about Ms. Gold! This daughter of The Rising was the star of KCRS last year, narrowly missing the Triple Tiara by a second place finish in the second leg. She's ran second to the great Triple Crown and near unbeatable champion, Black Thriller in the Travers last year. This filly has got heart and the very same heart shows in her younger brother, Rising Wonder. This filly is still the heart of KCRS and the very first horse to go from undercard 'nobody' to HOTY 'somebody'. While she may not be as immortal as Black Thriller or Luna de Soltera, she reminds everyone that she's still here. You'll be seeing her in the Silver Charm* and Plum Pretty* in May, but it is undecided if we will direct the mare towards the Breeders' Cup this year. Depending on her performance this year, one might just see this filly until end of her 6 year old career.
ROUGH BOY
Rough Boy has definitely had it rough from being cast into his twin brother's shadow over the duration of his racing career. However, once you start to differentiate between the two colts you'll eventually learn how to work with Rough Boy. He lacks the aggression and backing to successfully challenge HOTY but he's found his calling in the undercards and so long as he's happy and running well we won't switch things up. He's had three weeks off before making a return in the Oponium Derby later this week. Rough Boy should have an expected retirement date announced some time in August.
SUPERB CURIOSITY
A filly forgotten now making a reappearance on the track. This 5 year old mare is the first foal by Super Sparky and has had a few weeks off before coming to KCRS late March, earning a 3rd place finish in the Alfred Vanderbilt Handicap*. She's a solid mare and her schedule alternates between undercards and the occasional HOTY. She's just two wins shy of G1 but as a 5 year old we probably won't keep her racing until the end of her 6 year old season as planned. Although not frequent, we've noticed the mare favoring one of her legs every once and a while but a vet check up gave her a perfect bill of health. We'd rather not risk her sustaining any injuries but until further notice she will continue racing until the end of the year.
LIKE A LIONESS
Nala was purchased as a two year old when she showed extreme promise with all but two of her eleven starts being HOTY placements. Although the filly came off as a '1-year' wonder she has still remained consistent and gives every horse a run for their money on the track. She's just 1 win shy from G1 and from there we'll evaluate what direction to take and if the filly should run until the end of her six year old season.
