Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
Battle Brook 3 Year Olds Getting Good at The Right Time
Cataclysmic: A sprinting sensation at 2, Cataclysmic has found herself in deeper waters at three. She's faced the top colts and fillies in every start this season and has come firing every time. Her last start proved that she still has what it takes to be top dog. "Like her sire, Mastermind and his half-brother, Sun King, Cat was beaten in the early season. Everyone was screaming that she wasn't the same, that everyone else had caught up to her talent-wise, but they forgot that she was still growing as well." Her latest breeze put a stamp on her trainer's words as she was prepping for the late summer Triple Sprinter Tiara. What appeared to be a rollicking gallop for the gray dame, actually was a smart workout in 1:10 3/5 over The Wire's dirt course. Her next scheduled starts will come in the Quick Cup, Evangeline Sprint and a run in the Girl's Party.
Beyond Constellation: After being added to the July Sale, you would think that the BBS team would have the recent grade four winner back at the barn preparing for the sale. However, she hasn't been doing much prep at all, according to Ripley Marsh. "I know everyone is real big into the sales, getting the horses ready, making them shine for the thousands of eyes. That's our goal for our broodmares and babies, but not for our racehorses. Beyond Constellation has been resting and relaxing in the pasture after her morning exercises, taking a short break from the box stalls at the track. We know the sale is right around the corner, but we want her mind right for when we bring her back in the Cyclones Handicap." Word has it that the Cyclones Handicap will be the final start for Beyond Constellation in the BBS colors, but not all are particularly keen on the filly's sale. And who could blame them; she's won three races this season and has the appearance of getting better the older she gets.
Amnesty: The bay daughter of GS Judgement cuts quite an impressive figure on the Green Horse Fields track in the mornings. While not the tallest filly, Amnesty is broad and bulky, more coltlike than fillylike. It took some time to get the girl to her recent win in the Kentucky Oaks, a lot of which could be attributed to her early season growth spurt. "Amnesty has been really impressive since the Oaks. We think that even though she has won once this season, she is still a top competitor in the Triple Tiara. The first leg is at 8F, the distance she won at last out. Her weight has held and she's more forward in her works. To be honest, the Triple Tiara seems to be anyone's to take this year."
The Dark Knight: Brawny doesn't even begin to describe the son of Immortal Flight. He's an imposing animal and attracts notice wherever he goes. Many people have suggested that the horse is the most similar descendant to his sire Touch Up. So why was he gelded recently? "While we had high hopes for him in the breeding shed, it was discovered that he had undescended testicles that were bothering him. After we removed them, he came back with an impressive win in the Lecomte*. There's no particular goal in mind with him, but because he is now gelded, you'll likely see him racing into his 5 year old season."
Bold Trick: Expectations were always high for Bold Trick and he has more than lived up to them. A favorite for the Triple Crown, Bold Trick is coming off of an impressive win in the Florida Derby. He seems ultra poised to perform well at every race in the Triple Crown and will be able to call on his bountiful stamina when he gets to the Belmont. "He's been such a classy animal to train. We need to keep him in constant motion because when he is given the time off, he gets stir crazy and just doesn't focus as well. We feel very confident for this series and beyond because he gives off those vibes. We truly think he could be something special."
Vitriol: Vitriol has been a conundrum for the BBS team. Super consistent, brilliant in the mornings, Vitriol has been just on the edge of doing something great. He took his career to another level by winning the 12F Dynaire Derby*, his first HOTY level win. He has now since come back into training after a brief break away. Word has it that he will be preparing for a run in the Queen's Plate*. He also is scheduled for the July Sale, but his status for that engagement now appears tentative at best.
Jacques Cousteau: "We joke around that the barn that we will never have an intact son sired by GS Royal Crown," Ripley joked. Gelding Tap Out seemed to have set that animal on the right path and immediately following suit with Jacques Cousteau, the bay horse went out and won. "He'll float around at the shorter distances, maybe extend when his confidence is up The goal is to get him moving in the right direction. He really is a nice animal and has made strides toward becoming a better runner in the last five months."
Tap Out: Tap Out ran like a man on a mission in the 11F Black Birdie Stakes last out, notching his 7th career victory and causing his owner to promptly throw his name in the hat for the second leg of the Turf Triple Crown. "Tap Out has been a real champ this year. He's been terrific in his starts at 11F and is unbeaten at the distance. We feel that his confidence level is the best it has ever been and are looking forward to racing against the top turf three year olds!"
Rebound: The bay colt is one of BBS's most lightly discussed three year olds. He just hit 19 starts, has won 5 of them and has been 100% in the money this year. "We love Rebound. He's an energizer bunny and his runs are always strong. We're hoping to have him back on the winning track in time for the Green Mile series, but if not, we're fine. He reminds us all of Escape Artist at this point in his career, full of untapped talent."
Wayward Lass: The bay filly by Flying Solo was perhaps the most frustrating horse on the string in the early season. So good in the morning and just barely missing in the afternoons, she finally caught a victory last out at BSD and looks like her old confident self. "We knew it was only a matter of time before she would start winning again. We'll point her toward the Turf Sprinter Tiara, but only after her mini-break back at the farm."
Pure Innocence: She's been a true joy to watch in her races and seems to only be getting better. She barely lost in the first leg of the Turf Tiara, but is definitely knocking on the door for the next. She's won two times at 9F and has been training sharply ever since her last out.
Wild Annie: It is almost surprising to not see Wild Annie's name not listed in the Turf Tiara nominees. She's been training brilliantly and recently beat the males in the Ringo Stakes* at BSD, notching her grade two victory. "We thought to enter her in the Turf Triple Tiara or Crown at first, but she had a few minor issues along the way and we held her back when possible. We think taking a more conservative route and pointing for the Turf Distance Series is best for her as she does as previous success at 10-12F. Although she is a lighter type, she is not afraid of the boys as she has proved multiple times in the last year and a half."
