Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
KC Racing headed into the July Y18 sale with a relatively open mind with our top priority being to increase our broodmare band. While we were looking over the sales catalog the last couple of weeks, we ended up finding a few more horses to peak our interest. We also went into the sale with several horses of our own that had been prepped and ready to wow potential buyers with not only their pedigrees but their pleasing personalities as well. Here's the report:
SALES
KC Racing and Kennington Farm were the consignors for seven hips in the sale, the most we've ever sold since the auctions kicked into full force. We're excited to see how these horses prosper in their homes and definitely wish the best to all of their new owners.
Super Cat This boy started his career late but has acquired his fair share of fans during his starts. He's by our popular stud, Super Sparky out of our home-bred mare, Tricky Cat. The starting bid for this sprinter colt was $100,000 and he ended up going home with REI the night he was in the ring for an astounding $300,000. We definitely weren't expecting for him to get so much interest in the ring but with 15 starts and only 2 being out of the money, this is a horse that will definitely earn his keep during his career.
Jersey Glory One of our very first foals bred from one of our mares at Kennington Farm, Jersey Glory holds a special place in the hearts of our staff. She can be quite the pain in the butt but she's got a lot of willpower working in that brain of hers. She was a buyback from Montgomery Acres before it's closure and went to Windsor Stables for $30,000. This comes after the filly just broke her maiden after multiple out of the place finishes, we have high hope that this is the turning of a new leaf for this three year old.
Forget Me Not This golden gal was bred out of one of our mare's and privately sold when she had the chance to mature out a bit. She's been jostled around a bit with owners but was in training with REI for a good while before we decided to run her through the sale. Her starting bid was $130,000 and she went for $300,000 to find a loving, permanent home with with her new owner.
Storm Surge There's a pattern with chestnut in the Super Sparky line and Storm Surge didn't fall very far from the tree. Her starting bid was $20,000 and she went for a whopping $100,000 to what we know will be a good home and a great start to her racing career in a few years.
The Greater Good One of the first foals for Majestic Hero, we're happy to see this colt go to a new home where he can divide and conquer in his own way. He sold for $30,000 at the July Sale, an absolute steal for the grandson of a HOF/BHOF.
Apollo's Storm Another daughter for the Augusto grandson, Apollo Bear and first foal for him since Y16. She went for $45,000 and we know she'll dominate the turf like her sire did in his racing days.
Firecracker Another Super Sparky son and a buyback from Montgomery Acres. This handsome boy has been incredibly consistent with his 7 starts and only placing out of the money 3 times. He's sure to be an amazing asset for King of the Hill Stables who had the winning bid of $65,000.
ACQUISITIONS Again, congratulations to the new owners of the horses previously mention. Now we move on to the most recent additions to KC Racing and Kennington Farm.
White Rose Acquired for a whopping $400,000 we're excited for this beautiful mare from Firestone Stud. She went through the sale with her weanling by Justa Muffin which sold for $75,000. This mare comes with a bonus, however, as she was checked in-foal to Refute so we'll be expecting another new face come this time next year.
Palace of Fire Our head trainer recommended that we try for a Pyrotechnics foal and originally we had our minds set on the Pyrotechnics filly that was going through the wings towards the end of the sale. That was about the time we stumbled upon this delightful colt that had his fair share of admirers. We fought hard for this boy and he finally got come home with us for $1,100,000. Look out for him next year when he makes his debut.
Wannabe Royal We never really try for horses of racing age during these sales but this was one of two opportunities that we just couldn't miss. This colt was very much like our Firecracker, very consistent but just needed to get his chance to shine. After acquiring him for $350,000 he was already prepped and ready for an upcoming race the following week. The colt settled in quickly, put his best foot forward and won with style to break his maiden.
Dogma We've seen this horse bounce around between owners during his career and he's finally managed to bounce onto KC Racing soil for next to nothing. He's got a long road ahead of him to whip him back into fighting form, but we know he's already ready and raring to go back on the track. We had a hard time loading him into the trailer because he was so hyped up and there's no place better than the track to burn excess energy for a racehorse.
Devora Connick, senior racing trainer from NDM, would love to update KCR that Super Cat won his first race with us! He's taken his move quite well and we're absolutely thrilled to have him with us.
