Take Me Higher will take her best shot at flying high in the Juvenile Fillies Turf. She’s run over both surfaces this season but has excelled over the turf, having received 4 HoTY points in 6 wins out of her 11 starts thus far. She’s been training well and impressed us in her last win in the Louisiana Fillies Futurity* back in September. This lovely girl thrives over the longer distances, so we’re excited to see how she fares over 9 furlongs.
BREEDER'S CUP FILLY AND MARE SPRINT*
Mistweaver has been a force to reckon with in the filly & mare sprints this season. Starting the season off with only 8 wins, this mare rose to the top on multiple occasions and was able to hit grade one with her last win in the Burst Stakes*. With 5 HoTY points to her name, some of which she has faced the boys and prevailed triumphantly, Hunter goes into the Breeder’s Cup feeling good with a solid record. She will hit the Senior Sprinter series as her preparation for the Cup draws to a close.
BREEDER'S CUP FILLY AND MARE TURF SPRINT*
Our entry for the F&M Turf Sprint has surpassed our expectations for this season and looks to be getting better with each race she runs. Final Velocity narrowly missed capturing the Turf Triple Sprinter Tiara title after falling third in the Daisy Stakes however has taken that loss and turned it into something great. She is 7/7 for wins and HoTY points and impressed us thoroughly with her win in the Cougar II Stakes* against a field of older horses. This filly by Flying Solo has earned her spot in this year’s race.
BREEDER'S CUP JUVENILE FILLIES*
Flightpath is one of our fillies who may not be a favourite but has shown enough class and consistency to earn her ticket to the Breeder’s Cup. Easily winning at 12f, Flightpath has been struggling to get wins at any other distance but is 3/3 at 12f, with 2 of those wins being of HoTY class. She’s got the talent to keep up with her counterparts so we’re confident in her abilities to keep up.
BREEDER'S CUP FILLY AND MARE TURF*
The first daughter of Souvenir will try to make one of her last races count this season. Enchanting Soldier has been a dominant force in the F&M turf group and is one of the favourites heading into this year’s Breeder’s Cup division. She impressed us in her win against the boys in the Rising Fury Memorial Stakes* in October and looks to hit some of the turf distaff races before resting up for the BC.
BREEDER'S CUP DISTAFF*
Probable favourite for the Breeder’s Cup Distaff will be Enrapture, the 5-year-old daughter of Furious Passion, who has been nothing but consistent this season for Firestone Racing. She’s been a force against the girls and looks good in preparation for the Cup race. She has 4 HoTY wins to her name and has not placed out of the money since last year. Enrapture is training well and continues to impress us, and we are excited to see what she can produce foal wise next year.
BREEDER'S CUP JUVENILE TURF SPRINT*
A late addition to the Firestone roster this year, Mild Manic was a top juvenile for Highgrove Thoroughbreds before travelling to us for the remainder of the season. Already a star juvenile at Grade four with 3 HoTY points, she seems to be on the upswing heading into the Juvenile Turf Sprint after her last win in the Scyther Stakes*. Manic will be up against some classy individuals, but she’s earned her spot here and will be fighting tooth and nail till the end.
BREEDER'S CUP JUVENILE SPRINT*
Borealis should be a hot contender in this years’ Juvenile Sprint. While up against some very strong colts, Borealis has shown that she is able to keep up with HoTY wins between 5-7 furlongs. As the first daughter of Aquatic Addiction, we’re hoping this big girl can get the job done and keep up.
BREEDER'S CUP MARATHON*
Arctic Fox has shown his preference for the marathon distance late in his career but that didn’t stop him from racking up 7 wins, all of HoTY caliber, and all between 10-12f. He’s competed against horses with such solid records and kept up, besting the best and doing it in style. If he continues to train and race like he has been, he could be one of the probable favourites for the Marathon.
BREEDER'S CUP JUVENILE TURF*
One of our favourite juveniles Helios will be making his debut in the Juvenile Turf. He broke his maiden first try out and has been a solid colt ever since January. With 3 HoTY wins to his name, this grade four juvenile will look to surpass the juveniles when they take on the turf. He’s a good colt and we’re excited to see how he runs for the rest of the season leading up to the Cup.
BREEDER'S CUP DIRT MILE*
Two girls have stood out to us and we couldn’t separate the two. Winning Fire, much like her older sister, dominated the older female miler division and has earned her berth into the Dirt Mile. Also dabbling on the turf, Winning Fire proved that she could do it all as an older mare. Three-year-old Foxy Passion also has earned her entry into the Mile after impressive performances in 3/4 legs of the Red Mile series, with one leg left to run. She made her first start against older horses the other week and landed herself a 2nd place finish against one of the top miler colts. This will be Winning Fire’s final run as she ships to Firestone Stud days later as Foxy Passion gears up for her senior year.
BREEDER'S CUP MILE*
Another fantastic mile runner, Socialite will look to come out on top in the turf Mile. While she has a lighter schedule than most of our BC runners, Socialite has been a force in the Green Mile series. Coming out on top twice, she looks poised and ready to fight for the win. Sally is an extremely athletic filly and has done her parents proud this season. She will face open competition until the last leg of the GM series.
BREEDER'S CUP CLASSIC*
After seeing how Arctic Fox liked the marathon distance better, it opened up a spot for the 5yo son of True Enough, Seems Legit. While he has more out of money HoTY finishes then we would have liked, he’s been a very consistent guy since last season. He managed to get 4 wins, all of HoTY caliber, but has been winless since July. We’re hoping a month or two off has done him well as he starts prepping for the Classic in late October. We know he has the class to compete against the best before he heads into his retirement.
