Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
As November comes to a close, we are here to take a look at the Golden Valley Racing stock and how they have been performing as the stable’s first season on the track nears a close.
After a very good start to the season, Battleborn seems to have slowed down in the later part of the year with 4 thirds in his last 4 starts. The Dark Bay colt will be staying on next season as a 5 year old and Chris Tipton says he has no doubts the colt will find his way to the winners circle, if not in December then in Y19.
Another horse which seems to have struggled in the second half of the season, NMVIP-graduate Delilah is only one win away from G3 but hasn’t seen the winners circle since June. This sprinting filly had, however, built a strong record which she can be expected to build on in Y19.
Moonstorm has seemed to struggle this season, only hitting the winners circle twice. She is two wins from G1, and Chris Tipton hopes that with a little confidence boost she will be a hard hitter in Y19 despite initially considering her retirement.
Spirit Of Liberty is two wins from G1, and has built a strong resume of HoTY placings this season putting her in prime place to hit out for a strong final season in Y19.
Winter Soldier is not a name to ignore, with the colt continuing to improve this season. The four-year-old has won in both the Summer and Winter Cup this year. As he closes in on G1, don’t be surprised if this colt starts to make his presence known at the HoTY level next season.
Unraced at 2, Apocalypse has made a positive start as a three-year-old. With ten starts this season she has hit Grade 4 and only finished outside of the top three once. With careful campaigning this filly certainly has the potential to be a very good horse.
Devil You Know made it to Grade 4 this season, but is in a good position for next season to build on her experience. A daughter of Dark Charmer, her family is well known for running better with a little maturity on them and Chris Tipton is hopeful of this proving true once more.
Another 3-year-old to make his debut this season, Ship In The Night has hit grade 4 and been in the top 3 in 10 of his 11 starts. His only finish outside of the top three came in his only turf start at the end of November.
A more recent addition to the stable, leased colt Wise Guy is a talented grade five on the dirt. His most recent win came in November Week 3. Despite not seeing much of the winners circle, this colt has been consistent this season and definitely has room to improve.
Juvenile filly Eagle Vision may only have one win to her name this season, but has everything she needs to improve next season. As a late starter she was up against some tough odds in a season of impressive 2-year-olds, but has been fairly consistent which could put her in a nice position.
With some more HoTY exposure, Executioner is primed for a nice season in Y19. The grade 4 colt has nice consistency, and won the G5 Dirt Sprint in the Winter Cup. Was that a hint at things to come with this talented youngster?
GVS have been careful in their selection of races for sales-purchase Grand Revival but with an improvement in his consistency, and a HoTY second to his name could he push past the harder start to his career?
Majestic Motion arrived at GVS recently on lease from Intrepid Racing and has not failed to impress by taking his first win since May in November Week 1. This colt has had some nice HoTY experience and could be ready to build on his successes in Y19.
Realm of Souls was another import for GVS who has had a fairly nice start, breaking her maiden and showing her consistency. This eye-catching filly is sure to keep building on this early record.
Another GVS import, Shots Fired has also broken his maiden and built some consistency, with 2 HoTY places to back him up as he moves into Y19.
Sweet Assurance is another lease from Intrepid Racing, and a NMVIP trainee. The filly broke her maiden back in July and was able to back this up with a win in the Winter Cup* in October.
All in all, GVS is in a good position. Their roster seems healthy, and with nobody to say goodbye to this season they can keep looking forwards and aim for bigger, better things.
