Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll

WELCOME TO FINAL FURLONG
THE ABSOLUTE BASICS
Getting Started
1. Create an account on this forum and join our Discord server. [Make sure your usernames match on both so that we recognize you!] Say hello in our Discord channel once you've joined; odds are somebody will be online to welcome you to the site and answer any questions you might have! The ability to access Discord regularly is pretty key to playing this game to its fullest and is where announcements are made. We do not have a site chatbox, so please join our Discord server!
2. Create your Stable Site. Most people use Weebly; some may use Proboards or something else. Feel free to use what you are comfortable with, as long as it works! Things to include on your Stable Site: a general description on your main page, an "Office" section for keeping records (i.e. a list of staff members that you've created (no approval needed!) for your barn, reserves/items, a list of your horses, race schedules if you'd like, etc.), and of course your horses. Look at other stable sites for inspiration! You can find a list of stables in the Stable Directory thread (which you should reply to once you've joined with a link to your stable site). Once you've been added to the Stable Directory, you'll also get your own stable sub-board in the Stables board. (If this doesn't happen, post in the #adminhelp channel on Discord or PM a staff member directly and we'll take care of it for you!)
(Separate Note: You'll see that many members have a Breeding Division site. Curious what it is? We'll cover this in the Breeding thread!)
3. Now it's time for you to get some horses! There are many things you should know about horse ownership, such as what buybacks mean, etc. This will be fully covered in "The Basics, Part 3: Horse Ownership". What is important right now is that you get some horses! You should Create A Horse on this board. You should Create A Horse using the form sticky'ed to the top of the board. Once you've posted your prospective horse, wait for a staff member to approve your horse.
4. Once your created horses have been approved, add them to your stable site and post a reply in the Horse Directory thread located in the Registry board. The information that you need to provide is detailed at the top. The Horse Directory lets us keep track of all of the horses in the game, so it is vitally important that you post here! On your horse's page, make sure you include the following information: Name, pedigree (sire/dam names - for Created horses put "Created"), year of birth/age, personality, racing style, surface/distance preferences, and race record (at minimum, some choose to include more!)
5. It is completely optional at this point, but some will choose to write workouts or articles about their horses so others can get to know them! There are no in-game perks to doing this, but it can be fun! Most people will keep track of workouts/articles on the horse(s) pages that are mentioned.
6. Now you are ready to enter your horse in races. More on this in The Basics, Part 4!
7. Closing dates for races vary throughout the year depending on member availability, etc. If everyone has a lot of times, we will sometimes do an 'accelerated' schedule where we'll close two game race weeks per RL week. However, most of the year we close one race week per week, often on Mondays. Staff will post reminders in the Discord when we're getting closer to closing day.
