02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. 01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄

08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e

07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!

3. Items & Incentives Guide
ITEMS AND INCENTIVES
Throughout this guide and during your time on the site, you may have noticed several mentions of special items such as a Twin Voucher, Surface Supreme, etc. These refer to the different "items" that you can earn or be gifted as a member of the site! You can also earn these items as part of our new Member Milestone Program. Read on for more details!
Items List
Surface Supreme = horse will run Great on both turf and dirt
1 Furlong Distance Extension = can extend horse's furlong range by one [i.e. make a 5-8 horse able to run 5-9 furlongs, etc.]
2 Furlong Distance Extension= can extend a horse's furlong range by two [i.e. make a 5-8 horse able to run 5-10 furlongs, etc.]
Rerouter = Change a horse's distance preferences [i.e. make your 7-12 horse a 5-10] [RAREitem]
Custom Foal Kit = able to decide foal's distance/surface preferences independent of their parents' preferences [i.e. breed a turf horse to a dirt horse and get a turf horse; breed a sprinter to a sprinter but get a miler/classic type; etc.]; the resulting foal can be dual, have furlong extensions, etc. without the need to apply the other items
Twin Voucher = your mare can have twins!
Gender Bender = you can change the gender of your horse [so male to female or female to male]; cannot be done on horses that have started racing
Unique Color = your horse can have a unique color [i.e. palomino, etc.; has to be a realistic color, but can be a less common color among thoroughbreds]
ITEM RULES
1. Your horse can have a maximum of 2 items applied to it - for example, a 1 furlong extension and a surface supreme, a gender bender with a 2 furlong extension, etc. EXCEPTION: No horse can have both a 1 furlong and a 2 furlong distance extension. [However, your horse can have 2 separate 1-furlong extensions applied.]
2. As stated previously, you cannot use a Gender Bender on a horse who has already started racing or been entered in prospect races.
3. Custom Foal Kits can only be used at the time of the horse's birth; they cannot be used after they have been born and registered in your Horse Directory thread.
4. For contests/giveaways (as often happen in the #special-events channel on Discord), you are allowed to give away any of the items mentioned above as well as reserves, etc. even if you do not necessarily have that item in your inventory. Consider your giveaways "sponsored" by FF XD
5. You must have a page on your website devoted to keeping track of what items you have; staff will not do this for you. Yes, this means we run on an honor system when it comes to your items and you using them. Respect the system!
6. Twin Vouchers, while they do exist, should be used sparingly. Don't use more than one Twin Voucher on a single mare within her breeding career.
7. Even if a foal comes from Unique Color parents and would have a realistic chance of inheriting the Unique Color, you will need a Unique Color voucher to make the foal a Unique Color as well.
8. Rerouters are particularly rare items. They can be used at any point in a horse's career, but a horse can only use a rerouter once. Rerouters are for horses who have made at least one career start (you can change the distance preferences of your weanlings and yearlings at will). The new distance range must include at least one of the distances that your horses used to run at. For example: A 9-12 furlong horse can be rerouted to be a 6-9 horse, but not a 5-8 horse (because 5, 6, 7, 8 furlongs were not included in the previous distance range).
Item Transactions
Items may be used in horse sales, acquiring breedings, etc. (so as money), but this is NOT required for any transaction.
MEMBER MILESTONE PROGRAM
1. This program is designed to reward members for reaching certain milestones on the site. It is mainly for New Members to be able to accrue items during their first few months on the site. Once a Milestone has been reached, PM a staff member or use the #adminhelp channel on Discord to claim your prize; state what milestone you are claiming and provide links/evidence as applicable.
