Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
<3 It's Valentine's Day, and since I lost my bunnie love last year I have no sweetheart this year, so I came up with a different kind of matchmaking event to observe this year's holiday. Go through my retired breedingstock, and match one of them up with one of my currently active breedingstock. It doesn't matter which is the stallion and which is the mare (if you want you can choose two retired ponehs, but options are far more limited). Bypass how many offspring they already have and view them only as themselves for their racing accomplishments, personalities, and pedigrees only. This is your time to bring out the fangirl/fanboy. Give me an argument (a paragraph or so) why that match could have produced a foal that you think would have become a star, brought a super fresh cross, offered a new bloodline mix, or whatever other reason you feel I missed a potential opportunity. (This does not mean I won't take ideas for future fuzzies from the offspring of the mixes you suggest, jussayin.) If you convince me it would have made a wild, beautiful, talented, or silver spoon baby, I shall give you a reserve to one of the pair's offspring. As added incentive for everyone who participates to give it some actual reflective thought and display some of your breeding prowess, the one who gives me the most compelling argument shall receive two reserves, one from each of the pair's offspring.
(Note: I will make BR selections via availability, I will give everyone 2 or 3 options to choose from if I can. If one of the horses you select for your match does NOT have any current offspring or I do not own that offspring, I may give you the special opportunity to breed that mare/stallion, or get a reserve in on a future planned foal. Bonus brownie points awarded to those who can work in oreos, gummy bears, and/or deliciousness such as red velvet cake in their arguments. This is a Valentine's event, after all.)
(Second Note: I will allow you to choose my geldings as part of the pair if you'd like. Make A Dash, Thorny Rose, Rise Me Gold, Naturally Charismatic, and Like A Lioness may not be chosen as they are newly acquired.)
(Third Note: If you are a very creative person and think outside the box, and can take this hint, you might be able to put in a very compellingly complex argument for matching two horses up if you can make a case why a gender bender might have been beneficial in a horse's past.)
I'll leave this open for a few days or a week, feel free to post if you want to enter but need a little extra time so I don't close it on anybody.
You know, I just really really really love this cross for some reason. I have a soft spot for the old lines, which doesn't necessarily bring the freshest lines into the game. BUT with that being said, I really think a baby out of this cross would be able to do something great. Seeing as Impress The Moonlight whipped her turf competition (despite Moondance being a straight dirt mama) shows me that there is great flexibility within Moondance's lines (also seeing that the rest of her babies are either dirt or dual specializing in dirt). Gala Royale's lines are pretty strictly dirt, however there is a LOT of wiggle room within there and I don't see why there would be a surface issue of the resulting foal between these two. It kind of offers a nice mix of old lines that might not necessarily have been smushed together back in the early years of the game. (I think that's kind of a lie though, because there is a True Enough x Moondance baby out there.....but True Enough is 3 generations behind in Gala Royale's pedigree that I really don't think it counts lmao).
ANYWAYS. That's my logic, and I don't really have another good explanation as to why I love this cross. I just do xD
Although this was supposed to be two breeding horse matches Miss Cru I shall allow it because after careful consideration . . . I TOTALLY ship that pairing too. Both of those two have histories and pedigrees that really favor dirt but they've both definitely pulled into that turf lane. Gala is my first chance at getting the Axel Rhose line, something I tried for a while. This definitely gives me ideas for a Gala x Moonlight or a Gala x Scripture cross in the future, that could be a very versatile foal. Since Gala has no offspring, I can offer you the choice of a direct reserve to him, a reserve to Superstition, or a reserve to Scripture.
Isabelle LOL OOPS I totally misread the post xD I'm glad you like that pairing though too lmao. As much as I drool over Gala Royale, I think i'm going to take the reserve to Scripture. I'm excited for my own Gallant Knight child to hit the tracks, so if she does well then I might be coming after you for a reserve to her half bro lol.
Firstly, you need to know how much I love Afterglow. She was one of my early horses and she did much better than I expected on the track. She won 2 Breeders' Cup races, and a leg of the Triple Tiara, which I thing shows her class. That is without looking at her bloodlines. Through her sire she is related to HoF Deadly Desires who won 3 different Breeders' Cup Races at 3 different distances, as well as several strong sprinters while her dam is well respected for producing high quality runners. In contrast, Englishman is from completely fresh lines and competed successfully at the highest levels, claiming himself wins in the Preakness Stakes and Dubai World Cup. I feel like his temperament could match well to the high strung nature of Afterglow with the potential to result in a driven but even-tempered foal with a lot of class with distances from a mile up to routes easily doable.
Oooo fresh take an on old line. I can imagine that would have been a killer miler/classic foal on the dirt! Afterglow's kiddos have definitely favored that range and Endo preferred the 9-11 marks. Nice call. I can give you a reserve to Phoenix Inferno, who although didn't make huge waves on the track, I think he'd give you a foal from Glow you'd be proud of. He's somewhat versatile, and he's the only male descendant of Firebird active in the game. Or I can offer you a reserve to Pompeii, she hasn't hit the tracks yet so you'd have to wait a while, but she'd offer a sprinting/miler pedigree for ya. Sadly right now Endo is booked up for reserves and he doesn't have kiddos yet
