08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e

07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!

A New Era of Firestone: The Juveniles They may be young and (sort of) dumb, but Firestone’s new era of juveniles have hit the scene and are looking to make an impact as the second half of the season looms closer. We know that Classic season is upon us and the three-year-old horses are the stars of the show, but there is another generation of horses looking to make their mark known amongst these talented individuals.
Big Star TB, B, C, FOALED JANUARY 2018 (HOF INNERSTELLAR – LOUD AND CLEAR, BY CRYIN’ OUT LOUD) Biggie was by far the most anticipated sprinter in the 2018 crop of juveniles for Carter and his wife, Evelyn. He was a strong looking, independent colt from the minute he hit the ground and has certainly lived up to his name. He comes off as arrogant and cocky, but never lets the success get to his head…too much. We couldn’t be any happier with his performances this season thus far. It took him a few tries to break his maiden, but he quickly bounced back for a HoTY win the next week out in the March Flair Stakes*. His most recent race resulted in a nice 2nd place effort in the Under The Wire Stakes*. It’s been a challenge trying to get the colt to cooperate and listen to his handlers, but when he does, oh boy, it’s over for everyone. His focus is indescribable. Biggie is coming off of a month’s layoff after putting some solid performances in between January and April. He’ll continue to be entered in HoTY races until the end of the season.
Black Wedding TB, DK B/BL, F, FOALED MARCH 2018 (BLACK WIRE – GS ADDICTED TO LOVE, BY SMILES BOO) We did not expect the challenge that would come out of this breeding pair, but honestly, we’re not even mad (despite the many bruises that Royal kindly graced us with). One glance in her direction at the track, you’d think she was a colt just judging on the way she’s built. The challenge with her was trying to get her to cooperate with the jockey, and paired with Devon, these two are a deadly combination. At first, we thought that a female jockey would be the way to go with her, but quickly discovered that she can only be handled on the ground by women (weird, but whatever works for her). Royal easily broke her maiden on the second go in the Silver Stride Stakes*, since the first race was lost due to a jockey error. Royal has been cruising comfortably in HoTY company since, her latest result a respectable 4th in the Beyond The Limits Stakes*. We’re very happy with the consistency in her performances so far, but we’re not going to be making any set-in-stone plans for her future just yet.
Crimson Rush TB, CH, F, FOALED FEBRUARY 2018 (RED HERRING – FLY WINDSOR, BY FOUNDATION) Crimson Rush…one word. Stubborn. Just like her brother. But how can you not want to spend time with those big brown eyes? Especially when she’s begging for a mint. Rush knows her job, all too well for a juvenile, so it’s a bit frustrating to see that she’s just not getting that win no matter how close she comes at the end. She’s uber talented, there’s absolutely no doubt about it. We’re hoping with a month and a bit off of racing paired with straight jogs/gallops and breezes, Rush will be game ready when she hits the track. Rush works phenomenally, often throwing out wicked fast fractions and looks good doing it, so we’re not quite sure where she gets stuck in a race. We’re fully confident in this filly, especially after seeing the times in her last workout, that she’ll be able to finish the job.
Dyani TB, B, F, FOALED MARCH 2018 (FLEET STREET – FIRE DANCER, BY NATIVE FLAME) Being the first born by Fleet Street, we weren’t really sure what kind of foal we would get out of Fire Dancer. What we didn’t expect was for that foal to be a money pit (in the nicest way possible). Dia is a troublemaker and has been nicknamed “The Destroyer” because of her tendencies to wreck the most expensive equipment on property, whether it be her own personal tack, or gates because she’s run into them too many times. You can’t help but sit there and laugh at her, though. Dia is a fireball on the track and has already found an affinity for distance races, which makes it easier to schedule races between her, Royal and Rush. Dia is a fun horse to train because she’ll always brighten up your day. We’re impressed with her performances thus far, especially with her finishing a very clean 3rd in the FTH Dirt Classic* after a month layoff in a very intimidating field of 6. She’ll continue to rotate HoTY races with Royal until we figure out an end plan for the girls.
First Strike TB, B, R, FOALED JANUARY 2018 (REFUTE – STRIKING MOTION, BY LOCOMOTION) First Strike was a little bit late to start racing, not hitting the track until the end of February. Partially because it was a scheduling error, but also because we found out that Striker was a ridgling. Not that it would affect him too much, but we were waiting to see if the second man-part would descent. As of March, it still hadn’t but it clearly doesn’t affect Striker in any way, as he was able to break his maiden on the third try. He’s a very smart horse and picks up on routine very quickly, much like his sire. He still has yet to pick up a second win, but another scheduling conflict doesn’t see him racing until the 3rd week of May again (again, our fault!). We’re hoping with a more consistent schedule this boy will be able to make bigger splashes into HoTY territory, despite his last two attempts resulting in out of money finishes. He’s a very classy horse with oodles of talent, we’ve seen it in his workouts, it’s just up to us to get him racing consistently.
Hero’s Calling TB, BR, F, FOALED APRIL 2018 (WANNABE HERO – SIREN CALL, BY SHIVER ME TIMBERS) A little slower to start, Hero’s Calling doesn’t know what she wants right now, which is the joy of learning with juveniles! Another one of our horses that is lightly raced (not on her by any means, I’ve been a bad trainer), Harlow has dabbled in some HoTY with not-bad results and broke her maiden in April. She’s a typical Wannabe Hero AND Siren Call daughter, stubbornly doesn’t want to play nice early on in the season but will no doubt pick up by the middle/end of the year. As frustrating as it is to have these types of horses, it’s very rewarding in the end when they decide to cooperate. We know that Harlow has a ton of class in her pedigree on both sides, and she’s a very chill horse to get along with. We gave her a month off of racing to see if that would help her brain mature a little bit more, and it honestly looks like she’s more focused when she hits the training track now. She’s scheduled to run the third week of May, and we’re hoping that some time off did her well.
Hestia TB, DK B, F, FOALED FEBRUARY 2018 (FLYING SOLO – SUGAR JAYDE, BY SWEET SUGAR CANE) We seriously cannot get enough of the Flying Solo foals! They are normally an absolute joy to work with…until we met Hestia. Both sides of her pedigree are somewhat docile and easy to handle, but Hess can be a real handful when she wants. Despite not being chestnut, she lives up to the ginger stereotype and isn’t afraid to put you in your place. Hess is a workhorse through and through, and you can definitely tell on race day. There are some inconsistencies; this filly broke her maiden first try out but then went against a ridiculously tough 8-horse field in the Unicorn Horn*, where she placed 5th. Not bad considering the quality of turf sprinting juveniles out there. After her last place finish in the Magic Millions’, we let her have a month off where she viciously rebounded for a huge win in the Sweet Sugar Cane Stakes* (quite fitting that she wins the race named after her damsire). Adding blinkers to her equipment list really helped Hess keep her focus the last time out. She’ll be continuing to hit HoTY, where we’ll re-evaluate her plans in the summer.
Luna Crescente TB, DK B/BL, C, FOALED MARCH 2018 (ABASTOR – HOF BELLA LUNA, BY SEA STRUCK) Luna Crescente is a tough horse to crack. He’s young, he’s dumb, he’s still a juvenile. That’s what we’re telling ourselves over here! Lenny is loaded with untapped talent; Carter knew that he was going to get a hot-blooded colt when Battle Brook Stables put the son of Abastor up for sale. He’s a stubborn fellow, but not stubborn enough to not want to race. His performances have been all over the map; some have been wicked fast and he’s just that extra inch away from catching the leader, and other times he seems to shut down. It seems that his 2nd place in the absolute monster field of the Unicorn Horn Turf* he was ready to go, but then he tanked his next start by placing last. We’re not giving up on the colt, however, if anything we’re more determined to tap into the talent that he truly has. We’re planning on giving him a one-month break once he breaks his maiden to rest and then train up to return with vengeance.
Namaste TB, CH, F, FOALED JANUARY 2018 (POSITIVELY PRECIOUS – EVERYDAY SMILE, BY HOF/BHOF EVERYDAY HERO) This beautiful daughter of Everyday Smile is Namaste, or Yogi-bear as we like to say around the farm. A gentle soul, she’s easily the hardest-working and friendliest horses around! It’s been fun training this one up; she’s easy, uncomplicated and very ready to please. Watching her run and win in her first race was thrilling and honestly a little surprising. Out of all of our distaff runners, Yogi was the underdog of the four. We should not have doubted her talents in the beginning, we never had a reason to! She had February off, which didn’t help her in March, however she bounced back with a big win in the Alpha Centauri Stakes* during the 3rd week of April. We’re very excited to continue her journey in HoTY company. It’ll be a battle of the distaffers in our barn for a little while!
Raging Fire TB, DK B/BL, C, FOALED FEBRUARY 2018 (CATCHING FIRE – STALKER’S FURY, BY NIGHT STALKER) It’s funny to see the Catching Fire progeny do whatever the heck they want, on whatever surface they want! That’s what makes them so fun to raise and train. It was scary raising this colt, though. He was such a tiny foal, he was the surprise second twin that popped out of Stalker’s Fury a little bit after his brother, Bronze Star. Despite that, Blitz turned out to be a looker and quite the runner…and quite the trickster, too. He didn’t really want to behave the first few months into the year, until spring hit and he sure as shiz broke his maiden! Who knew spring fever could be the start of something new? All of his starts have been on dirt so far, but we have an inkling he may want to start running on turf soon. He has the talent to do so, and he works pretty fast on the turf at home. He’ll be coming off of a month layoff soon and is scheduled to run in June.
Secret Touch TB, DK B, C, FOALED MARCH 2018 (SAINTLY TOUCH – SANTANA SECRET, BY FOUNDATION) This colt’s name is aptly chosen because it truly takes a “secret touch” to handle this colt. He is so unpredictable, it really took one person to sit down and study this colt from weanling to racehorse, just to figure out the right way to go about handling him. That one magical person, Naomi, put so much work into him that he’s somewhat better to handle by other people now. We think the breakthrough happened after his very impressive 3rd place in the Heavenly Grace Stakes* at the end of March. The placings continued to increase until he finally broke his maiden during the 3rd week of April. Since then, Slater had a little bit of a relapse when he finished last in the FTH Juvenile Dirt*, but his latest workout looks promising. He’ll race once more this month before going on a little break to finish the summer and rest of the season with a bang.
Sky Kingdom TB, GR/RO, C, FOALED JANUARY 2018 (DANCING ON NAILS – MY KINGDOM COME, BY FOUNDATION) Another highly anticipated first foal for Dancing On Nails, we were excited to see him hit the tracks under a new owner! Until he had come to us after his owner had to shut down unexpectedly. An unfortunate situation, mostly because they had not been able to put much training into him. With that aside, we started Kye and what a dream he’s been. It’s a pleasure to watch him thunder across the track like he’s been doing it his entire life, and the look on his face when he came back trotting to the winner’s circle made it all the better. Kye’s dabbled in some HoTY races and has done impressively well, despite not getting a win. With the way he’s been training during his layoff, he rebounded with a 3rd in the FTH Juvenile Turf Mile. He’s right on the cusp of that second win, and we have no doubt this colt will get it within his next few starts.
Sweet Passion TB, B, F, FOALED FEBRUARY 2018 (PASSIONATE FLYER – GIRL TALK, BY SPITZ) Last on the list, but not in our hearts is our lovely girl, Sweet Passion. Small but mighty, and very food motivated; she has tons of spunk but a gentle soul about her. You could call Passion a try-hard, and in reality, she is. One look at her compared to others at this distance and you wouldn’t think she could run a marathon race. She’s out to prove everyone wrong, especially when she broke her maiden in the Marylander Stakes* at 12 furlongs. Since then, Passion has only placed out of the money once and has only participated in one undercard race. We’re pleasantly surprised with how she’s been training up after her 5th in the FTH Turf Classic*, and honestly, she just looks like she’s getting better and better. Passion is scheduled to race during the 4th week of May.
