Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
NEW HORSES FOR VALKYRIE STUD AND PERENNIAL RACING STABLE
It's been a very busy sale for Valkyrie, and we're proud to announce that despite having a large racing roster across two stables, we have only two horses clashing in January - the lovely turf mares Santana's Legend and Sweet Mimosa. However, we're not here to talk about them! Please meet our lovely new animals.
Gladiator - A lovely bred colt, this little spitfire fit right in with the string. He got a single win in his juvenile season, but that in itself is not daunting - there is plenty left for this colt to do! He's by Memorial's Blaze, who already has some proven offspring, out of Midsummer Night, the spectacular dam of some very old-bred foals. He's an exciting addition to, someday, the stallion roster at Valkyrie.
Passionist - We've loved this colt for a long time, so when the opportunity came to snag him, we were quick on the bid. With all of our success with Flawed Princess as a broodmare, we've been wanting to get our lines on more Hail To Prince, and we're hoping this colt follows in his half-sibling's footsteps. This black colt had a modest two-year-old season, but he's got an ambitious schedule ahead of him. If things go well in a couple of undercards early in the season, you might find him gracing the Canadian Triple Crown and Distance series later this year. We already know this horse has a lot of potential, but his dam is what really sealed the deal. Passion Heart was Grayson Meadows' pride and we are thrilled to have one of her only foals.
Shadowfax - A modest and uncontested buy, this colt will be a project just as many of our purchases were. This originally-lined grey has plenty of potential, though, and will likely begin to shine in the coming years.
Wild Daisy - Our most expensive buy of the sale, Wild Daisy is an exceptionally lined filly that has a lot left to offer. She's got a lot of back class, even if it's a few years back, and we hope to quickly bring her back to that high form. Wild Daisy is half to a number of exceptional animals, too many to list here, but needless to say we don't need to justify our excitement for her. Now a five-year old, Daisy's still got a lot to prove and she seems eager to do it.
Bazinga - The first of the project horses bought by Valkyrie and sent to train at Perennial Racing Stable, Bazinga is a nice colt who had a good start at a juvenile season before being sidelined for years. Now five, Bazinga's got two full seasons to do something exciting and we're sure he's got what it takes. It is possible Bazinga will be sold as a stallion/racing prospect at the beginning of Y19, but we'll keep you updated!
Roundtable Rival - Who better to take in a maiden four-year-old than the stable racing a number of such horses this year? Rio is a strong, nice-looking colt with a lot to offer. If he performs well this year, he will be sold to race his final season or two with a new home in the Y19 sale. Otherwise PRS will take him through to retirement before offering him for sale as a fresh sprinting line.
Spirit of Liberty - Bought out of the NSA sale, Spirit of Liberty has returned home to where her racing career started. A grade three filly, Liv will finish her career with PRS before being sold in foal Y19 or Y20 depending on her progress. She's a special little filly, and we're excited to have her back!
Winter Soldier - Last but certainly not least, This colt comes to us from Crimson Haven and has the record to do something special over the next two years. Though we plan to sell him at the end of his career, an exceptional performance could find us second-guessing that decision... He's got some back class and had a very solid three-year-old season, and we're looking for him to rock the older undercard ranks this year!
Nephilim - Recently arrived from Intrepid, this lovely colt by Bowen Arrow is out of the dual Breeders' Cup winner Seraphim. Seraphim is herself of a royal lineage, by Hall of Famer Flying Colours out of blue hen Requiem. This connects her to a number of Valkyrie horses, namely Shenanigans, Optical Illusion, Mourning Passion, and Masquerade. This will be her first foal to race. He's by originally lined stallion Bowen Arrow, a turf miler who found HOTY* success in his final season. We are very excited for him to be a source of true miler lines, and matching him with such an exceptional mare doesn't hurt in the least. This colt has shown signs of affinity for both surfaces and is versatile with his speed over both sprints and distance.
