Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
As race weeks start to close faster, Firestone Racing is calmly preparing themselves for one of the most competitive and field-heavy classic seasons they have seen at their time at Final Furlong. Our 2 year olds will be going on a month-long vacation come June and we are starting to see vacations for our senior string who have been preparing to dominate this season. Here we can take a closer look at Firestone's classic string:
APACHE WARRIOR This son of Canjun Moon has had a rollercoaster of a season thus far, having not been able to catch a break in a tough sprinter division this year. Apache has been running against a tough crowd that have matured since last season and it looks as if the sprinting ranks aren't in his cards this season. Judging by his most recent win, we look to keep Apache within the mile - 9f distance range. We have no set plans for him as of right now, but will continue to work on gaining his confidence back.
CHARMED WEAPON Another horse who has run into some issues facing HOTY company this season after coming second in the Y17 Breeder's Cup Juvenile. Charm has been training very consistently and fast, but with a solid group of Classic contenders has just had a hard time finding those wins in HOTY company. We know he has natural talent that hasn't been tapped into yet - he might just be a horse that matures at 4. He has no set plans as of now, he might be dabbling in the distance series in the future.
FINAL VELOCITY What a surprise this filly has been for us this season! The first daughter of Flying Solo has punched out 3 HOTY level wins this season with her only other race a 2nd place in HOTY company. Vee had an impressive 2yo season last year and luckily it has continued to work in her favour. She's been training phenomenal with fast clicks, and could be a competitive contender in this season's Turf Triple Sprinter Tiara.
FOXY PASSION Has shown she wants to run the longer distances of her range and has been very consistent this season thus far. She's been proven a threat to many fillies in the dirt sprints/miles this season and we look to point her to the Red Mile series, provided that she continues to work easily and without many issues. We look forward to improving her race record this season.
ICE FIEND One of our lighter raced juveniles, Ice has started to show maturity and is starting to wet his toes in small HOTY company. He trains well and has been very consistent so far. It hasn't been easy but things have definitely started looking up for him. He may try the last few legs of the TTC, but if not he will most likely be a contender in the distance series at BSD.
INSOUCIANT Blaze has started to get back onto his feet after a relatively light juvenile season. He has yet to get a win this season however has been very consistent and has been putting fast fractions in his workouts. No real plans are made for him, however after his 3yo season you might find this guy for sale.
KATANA Has started to come into her own after arriving at Firestone Racing. Already firing off 2 wins this season, Katana keeps looking better every time she hits the track. If we can get her into HOTY company soon enough, she could be a silent but deadly contender for the Canadian Triple Tiara. We know she has it in her to get there but we just look on continuing to improve.
LANDSLIDE After a 3 week layoff from his surgery to snip his man parts, our NMVIP horse Landslide finally pulled off his first win of the season. If he can get his consistency up to 75%, this gelding will be ready to be shipped off to his new owner. He's had a rough go, but has started to mature and is more focused now that his hormones are in check!
OURO LUME Is another one of our horses that has found her stride this season and is ready to dabble into harder HOTY races. She had an ultra consistent 2yo season, however was unable to be at the front a majority of the time. After having the whole month of January off racing, Lily was able to train, relax, and mature mentally. She could be the underdog to watch in the Triple Tiara after a solid 3rd place in one of the prep races.
PEACEBREAKER After straying away from the boys early on in the season, Pilly has been much happier running against the girls. She's been prepping to be a solid contender for the Turf Triple Tiara and is slated to race in the Cotillion Stakes. If she continues to train like she has, Firestone thinks she has a really good chance at besting the girls.
RED HOT SECRET Was supposed to be our Triple Crown contender this season but has shown he has other ideas! This season will be focused on consistency and maybe dabbling in the Distance series depending on how he's feeling. We have a hunch that Sam might be a late bloomer just like his father and we're excited to see what he can do later on.
SAMARITAN HERO A late addition to the crop, we are delighted to campaign Samaritan Hero for his classic season. After having issues with our Crown contenders, Hero couldn't have stepped in at a better time. Things have been shaping up for the Catching Fire son and are looking good come the Kentucky Derby. We think Hero will have a good season this year.
SOCIALITE Is looking pretty good this season after having the month of January off. Her record boasts 2 first and 3 seconds and is looking good going into the Green Mile series. She's had a lighter season but has shown consistency and drive which is all that we ask of her going forward.
SWEET ON YOU Not the start that we would have hoped for this season after an impressive juvenile bout for Candy. It's back to the drawing board for this girl, who has shown she doesn't want to race in the longer range or on turf anymore. A surface swap and a pick me up race is needed for this girl but we hope she bounces back fairly quickly. We'll continue to monitor her progress and maybe come middle of the season she will be back to her old winning self.
SWEET TALKER Has already improved since last season and is on the rise up. Sweets had a tough couple of last races in her juvenile year however bounced back fairly quickly and has yet to place out of money this season. We don't have a lot of plans for her other than to grade her up and make sure she's continuing to train nicely. Depending on where she ends up, she might dip her toes into some HOTY later in the season.
