Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
Here at KC Racing we've always prided ourselves on having a smaller racing string than the incredibly popular stable giants. Not only does it make managing our string easier with no more than 20 horses at a time but we find it much more easier to get to know our horses better. We'd probably be overwhelmed if we had 40+ horses in our string! We try to balance our take on the SIM game with a little realism so we may not may not always wait to retire our horses at the end of their 5 and 6 year old years if injury occurs or they perform poorly on the track (excludes when recommended or made to do so of course!) A few horses have been retired to Kennington Farm and a few others have had their retirement dates set in stone or with certain requirements.
Superb Curiosity
We really wanted to try and race Superb Curiosity well into her fifth year and beyond but it wasn't in her best interest to keep pushing her as races became more and more difficult and more popular horses began to dominate the HOTY fields. She finally secured her G1 win in the Cheetah Stakes at GHF last week and it was confirmed by trainer John Murchison that she would be heading to Kennington Farm not long after.
It's safe to say that the mare is enjoying retirement much more than we had previously hoped as she's always made fast friends with Y11's Best 3 Year Old Filly and winner of two legs of the Triple Tiara, Silverianna. If you ever visit the farm and approach the paddock they're in, they'll both be there to greet you with pricked ears and curious eyes. Superb Curiosity is the daughter of our own stallion, Super Sparky and is his first foal to retire. She earned about $700,000 in earnings, placing in 40 of her 52 starts.
She will be bred to Speed Rush for a Y19 foal that will be run through the Y19 July Sale. Stay on the lookout!
Like A Lioness
This mare is by a sire that you don't really see anymore on pedigrees. This bay roan is by Like A Cheetah and out of Euphoria. She earned almost a million in earnings before she finally hit G1. John Murchison thought it was in the 5 year old's best interest to take her out before the going got too tough with the more proven crowd. She was purchased as a 2 year old when she was a hard hitting HOTY filly with placings in 9 HOTY races including the FTH Juvenile Dirt Mile*. Her prowess dwindled as she got older due to no fault of her own and by the time her 5 year old season rolled around Nala was spent and struggled to stay competitive in the two HOTY races she ran in this year and finished off the board.
She's a handful on and off the track but she's taking a liking to one of the stablehands at Kennington Farm. At some point in the future we plan to breed her to REI's Tiger Heart when he becomes available.
Deathflash's Truth
This wonder boy was raced very lightly each year but has managed to hold on with wins in the Boy's Festival* and even finished third in the Turquoise Stakes of the Triple Turf Sprinter Crown last year. He's been trying to push his way through the HOTY crowd this year but is very slow going.
He will join our other stallions like Apollo Bear, Speed Rush and A True Hero when he reaches G2 (two wins away). His half-brother (Get Loose) retired at G2 and we can only hope that Deathflash's Truth will prove to be a success in the breeding shed in the near future. His other half-brother that we own (Truth Teller) will be the turf horse to watch from KC Racing.
