Races close on Mondays at 9PM EST! Our Next Sale Begins: January Y22.
02/05/23 We're almost ready to kick off the New Year here at Final Furlong! The New Years Sale is still OPEN for bids - lots of ponies needing homes! As well, we're hoping to close January Week One races by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6. However, if we need to extend closing date so more people can get entered, just let us know in the Discord. In addition to getting your pages ready, don't forget to use your bonus points if you'd like!
01/29/23 Congratulations to KENREN for winning the Y21 Breeders' Cup Betting Contest! You've won a breeding reserve to FIFTY DREAMS (Firestone Stud) and 2x 2 furlong extensions + 5 bonus horse points! Lolly finished 2nd, and Cruisey finished 3rd.
12/08/22 The Breeder's Cup Betting Contest will make a return for Y21!!! It'll be a little bit different because of the new points system, but get ready for some end of year fun 😄
11/21/22 Entries for the New Year Sale are now open! We know it seems a bit early, but with life things we're going to need time to make sure things are right lol. Please follow the link here: https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2304/y22-new-year-sale
08/20/22 Judging has been the basis for issues for a long time - taking too long, drama regarding results, bias, etc. Kenren has attempted to put a points system together that keeps the spirit of our system while streamlining and standardizing the process. It's a lot to take in, but once you get in the swing of it, preparing pages with these points takes way less time than doing a layout change lol! If you have any questions, please post them in the judging-help channel on Discord for now. If anyone needs help with anything, please let an admin know! We would like to give everyone one week to get things settled, and then we would like to run July Wk 2 using this system closing 8/27/22 (or earlier if everyone is ready). If it works out, we would like to run two game weeks per RL week to get things moving! Thank you all so much for being her!e
07/27/22 To start July off fresh, we've been playing around with a new theme for Final Furlong! Make sure to check out 'Sonorous' under your profile ❤️ Feel free to use whatever theme works best for yourself. We can't wait to get back to racing!
07/21/22 it's official! We're back! It looks like June Wk 4 was almost fully judged, so make sure you get that updated if you hadn't! We will plan to close the next week (July Wk 1) on Thursday, August 4th. This close day may change, but it's not a bad place to start! For now we'll be doing one game week per RL week to get back into things. Please remember that starting the second half of the year, 3yos can compete against older horses without automatic lower placements.
As an aside, because this is fairly sudden after a whole year, we will not be allowing reclaims on horses for members not currently active for a few months. We will readdress this going forward if needed. Thank you all for understanding!
07/08/22 GO answer the poll ❤️ https://final-furlong.proboards.com/thread/2232/ff-restart-poll
Hi guys, and welcome to a bright and shiny new year! It's always sad to close the door on the past and say goodbye to the new retirees, the excitement of new juveniles and a new season makes it all worth it! As we go into this new year, we've got some record-keeping to do, some exciting announcements for the year, and some changes that are being made! If you're ever going to read an update, read this one.
Just to prepare yourself, January Wk 1 will tentatively close two weeks after the start of the sale!
1) Have your directory post completely updated before Y19 starts. I know Ender's old site is up on there still, and there's going to be all sorts of stuff moving around because of the sale. Remember that if you're LEASING a horse, the horse should be on YOUR directory post. If you are the owner but the horse is not currently in your barn because it's being leased, it should NOT be in your directory post. There should only ever be one link for a horse!
2) Along those lines, if you've started a site transfer, PLEASE finish it before the new year. There are some horses right now that are hard to find, and that shouldn't be the case. Off the top of my head, Ender and Sammy haven't finished transferring breeding horses to the site they need to be on. Once it's done, also update the directory.
3) There are going to be new rules for entering the Distance Series races. They will be as listed below, or some variation.
a) Horses that win the Belmont Stakes, Belmont Turf Classic, or Breeders' Stakes exclusively will be eligible to run, but not if they also won another leg of the series. Filly equivalents (last legs of their series) will also count for this. Winners of one or two of the first two legs of the TC/TTC/CTC and filly equivalents will not be allowed UNLESS
b) A horse has won one or two early legs of a series, with or without winning the last leg, but has not won a HOTY race since the TC/TTC or filly equivalents by the start of the Distance Series (excluding CTC/CTT because it's so close in the timeline to the DS, so it would be normal if any of those horses hadn't won again yet).
c) Triple Crown series winners will not be eligible.
So what does this mean? If you know you want your horse to be a marathoner, you can run them in the last leg of their early-season series (and win) and still have them be eligible for the distance series. If they ran the whole series but only won the longest leg, they're still eligible. Likewise, horses that won during the early series races but have struggled to compete since will be able to run. If you've got any questions about this, please ask Kenren or another staff member.
4) We've got a new sprinter series! This series will be run similar to the RM/GM and DS. They'll be the Spring Dirt Sprinter Series (SDSS) and the Spring Turf Sprinter Series (STSS). Legs of each will be run on the same weeks, being April Week 1, April Week 4, and May Week 4, with a sand leg running June Wk 2. These races will not affect eligibility for later sprinter series.
Dirt: Spring Fever Stakes** (5F), Steel Valley Sprint** (6F), Challedon Stakes** Turf: Nunthorpe Stakes** (5F), Commonwealth Cup** (6F), Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup** (7F) Sand Leg: Spring Sprinter Championship**
5) Remember to get your barns all sorted for the new year. Ages changed if need be, barns moved around, etc.
6) The Y19 New Years Sale is going to run about two weeks, starting directly after the end of the BC races. Horses will be on a 12 hour rotation, closing 9am EDT/9pm EDT. More information on that will be coming, so keep an eye out!
7) Just the normal reminder, but remember that until July, 3yos will automatically be placed lower than older horses unless there are extreme circumstances. 2yos will continue to be unable to compete with older horses. Make sure you check the open maidens if you enter your 2yos in them! 2yos MUST HAVE some sort of workout, write-up, report, etc, as do any racing age horses coming out of the sale. Judges please be sure to check for these things!
8) If you want your money added before the sale, remember to go through and make new money request posts. Once the money's been added, staff will edit a comment in saying so or delete the post. That stuff will be added before the sale. Judging points are also still being tallied, so that will be ready before the sale also!
Thanks everyone, and let's have a great Y19! The Staff Team
